Must Watch Series

All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.

For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

I work a ****ton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.

So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

I started S 2. It's better than S1. Hopefully it can finish.

I will say the main dude cannot run. And they keep making him do it. I've never seen anything like it. I wasn't any kind of elite runner or anything, but that dude is just swinging appendages. Never did I long for Tom Cruise sprint.

I did finish this. It's is a LOT better than S1. I'm actually looking forward to S3.

The acting and dialogue is some of the worst I've ever seen. From everyone.

The story is ****ing nuts -- at least S1 was, then it got more nuts as it went along.

And yet...I watch it? I really don't know why. It's bad. I mean everything about it is just god-awful. Yet here I am.

I think I'm 3 episodes in to S2 and I think ultimately the answer is that I will watch any spy shit, no matter how awful it is. And when the wife hasn't quite realized that it's shite so we can watch it in the evenings, things just tend to work out.

But anybody trying to compare this to, say, Jack Ryan - they're just out to lunch. It ain't in the same stratosphere.

Not at all lol. I told my fiance when we started season 2 that we had to watch him run, because apparently it's awful and then he started running almost immediately. We both started actually laughing out loud. Ive never seen someone run like that in my life.

They're doing what they need to do with the material. We live in the era of fake moon landings, puppet presidents, and the Deep State. You can't really do spy stuff anymore and make it entertaining unless it's just bombastic. We are just numb to the "government corruption" storyline playing out in real life. So they suspend reality and give us a show that is really just pure entertainment. I mean, I could poke holes in the tech parts of the story until I'm blue in the face. It doesn't matter. The show is fun.

Peter or anyone other than Farhad and the mother for Farhad's death drives me nuts. Then, you have Peter apologizing to her and saying he made a mistake? Wtf?

Noor going back to the Iranian Mission after talking to Peter and Rose about her brother being dead. I get she's upset that she was lied to, but direct that anger towards your mother for not telling your bro what was going on.

The mom telling Sami that he already took one child away is ****ing insane. Shes the one that just sprung the news on her kid and then she saw how he was acting and that he literally shot at Sami.

I really enjoy the show, but damn they do some annoying ass shit.

Speaking of spy shows on Netflix, has anyone watched The Recruit? I really liked season 1, but shit season 2 (especially the finale) was beyond unrealistic lol. Worse than any storm trooper shooting and missing the good guys stuff.

I'm re-watching S1 of the Recruit because I don't remember any of it. Damn if I don't really like it. I'll see what S2 ends up being.

Just finished One Good Deed. Decent but not as good as some I've seen lately. The cast was excellent though.

Yep. Those two, Luke Wilson, Linda Cardellini, Dennis Leary, very good cast. Good acting. There was just something about the story, maybe I just watch too much TV and I just finished White Lotus but the curve balls weren't that surprising and I kind of figured out the whole plot about halfway through the season.

Like I said, good show. I guess I just expected more with that cast.

But here's what bugs me -- why the **** am I supposed to like Noor? Or give a single shit about her?

And why am I supposed to dislike Javad? THAT'S HIS ****ING JOB!!!! He's the head of security for the Iranian embassy. What the hell else would you have him doing in that role? Why is he a bad guy in any of this? And why should I sympathize with Noor's plight when, y'know, mandatory military service is part of Iran? Something her brother has always known about and been prepared for? Something that MANY countries have? Get your !@#$ing nose out of his business, Noor.

And if you're gonna be in it, maybe discuss it with him at literally any point of his existence? Would've saved everyone a lot of headache. And the next time you try to blackmail the US Government, someone needs to throw your ass into the deepest of deep dark pits until you have a change of heart.

**** this -- I'm Team Javad. I like that dude. He's just a guy trying to do his job and flirting with the cute girl that works his desk. Why am I supposed to see him as some sinister douchebag? I think it's entirely because he buttons the top button of his collared shirts without wearing a tie. That's a dick move.
