Chiefs Rushing D vs. Eagles & Barkley

How do the Chiefs stop Barkley?

Total Rushing Yards in 2024: The Eagles accumulated 3,048 rushing yards during the 2024 season

https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/eagles-rushing-stats

In the playoffs, Barkley averaged 147.3 rushing yards per game with five touchdowns.

https://phillysportsnetwork.com/2025...numbers-stats/

The Chiefs allowed an average of 101.8 rushing yards per game during the 2024 season

Despite allowing a moderate number of rushing yards, the Chiefs have been effective in limiting explosive runs, which could help them contain the Eagles' powerful running game

https://underdognetwork.com/football...iefs-vs-eagles

In the playoffs, James Cook of Buffalo... rushed for 85 yards on 13 carries, averaging 6.5 yards per carry.

His longest run was for 33 yards, showcasing his ability to break tackles and gain significant yardage.

So, it would seem that the way to beat Philadelphia lies at the hands of the rushing defense.

How do we stop Barkley?

Any player has that ability when you get to the second level untouched, and the second level is populated by some of the most mediocre poor tackling defenses in the national football league.

Saquon is as close to Barry Sanders as Clyde was to Priest Holmes. Which is of course to say, not even close.

Barry Sanders averaged 5 a carry behind some of the worst o lines in football.

Saquon Barkley is a consistent, shifty running back that has taken massive advantage of one of the best o lines in football, coordinated by the guy who had a rb for a qb earlier in his career and has had little success against Steve Spagnuolo.

The Chiefs are one of the best tackling teams in football, so Superman is about to get a big o chunk of Kryptonite jammed up his ass.

There's some truth to this. Last year, Barkley averaged less than a yard before contact. This year, it was some ungodly number like 2.75. The Eagles line is good for 2 yards on every carry. That's not Barkley.

Honestly that's pretty spooky.

I have a nasty feeling there's gonna be a 12 play drive of all runs where the Eagles just gash us to death because their O-Line simply can. I hope Big Mike is ready for the task.

I saw that this week, and then Magini brought up the fact that hey, this guy was good at times in New York but he wasn't some world beater.

I think it's that line. Not that Barkely is some push over but he was never considered elite like this when he was with the Giants

Lol, in NYG Barkley was playing behind the worst OL in football, without a legit QB.

He's a faster version of CMC. he's averaged more than 1,000 all-purpose yds in 6 out of 7 seasons, at least 1,500 yds in 4 seasons. pretending he's not elite is just silly.

Yeah, Barkley is elite. There's no doubt at all.

But in this NFL, Elite QB beats elite RB.

Listened to the 2024 season Mic'd Up on NFL Network last night

They showed a clip of Saquon on the sideline looking at tape with a coach and calling out LBer positions and opportunities based on their body positions. He raises the football IQ of that offense and is more likely to get his than not

Still shouldn't be enough to beat KC if we stay efficient on offense and get a couple stops

I think the best way to limit Barkley is to make them one dimensional. Start fast, score fast, and often. I think he will get around a 100 because I don't think we will come out fast enough to get them in a pass happy game plan.

Barkley is a an excellent back behind this line but I think he would only be seen as a good back behind an ordinary line.

Cool story bro.

CMC went 22 for 80 and scored on some circus wr throwback trick play on last years Superbowl, with a much smarter and more diverse playcaller than Kellen Moore.

Nobody scared of Saquon Barkley that has been paying attention.

The biggest concern anyone should have for this game is KC stepping on their own dick, and allowing the Eagles to even be able to have a time consuming running game as an option in the 4th quarter.

Get out front, watch Sirianni panic and abandon the run, profit.

Hurts can play, we've seen it in a superbowl, but he hasn't replicated that performance since, and he really hasn't had much practice putting the team on his back this year because his run game was on rookie Madden difficulty.

This game is going to be like someone sneaking into Sirianni and Hurts rooms and changing their franchise difficulty from rookie to All Madden, and then watching them melt down when their 6 plays on repeat get destroyed.

We literally held Derrick Henry to 46 yards, and Henry was every bit as a good a RB as Barkley was this year.
