"Did you see Elvis and what he does on stage? That is disgusting and I can't believe he's allowed to perform. "
"Have you heard what they are listening to? Rock Music? I heard they talk about Satan. Can you believe that? What is happening to this country? " "I can't believe how woke music is. Just filling their heads with crazy thoughts. " Good to know some variation of this will be talked about by older people for as long as humans exist. The best music being whatever a person listened to growing up remains a constant theme, while whatever new music that is out when they are older always has something bad about it. |

My biggest issue with modern pop music is that it requires absolutely no talent. Sure there's exceptions but even in the world of metal, which has generally been fairly pure, bands are using all kinds of computer-generated effects to produce music they can't reproduce live without computers. |

The Grammys have never been a good barometer for what’s great and lasting in music have they?
Tons of snubs and acts that got overlooked.

Today’s music is fine. You don’t have to be slaves anymore to what people tell you to listen to. Go on pandora and Spotify and play something you like and eventually you’ll find new things you like. Pop music isn’t for me but there’s plenty of great music if you know where to find it. Music awards more than any other awards are always about commercial success and celebrity than it is artistry. Grammys are a poor marker
I do miss the days of good radio DJs pushing you to listen to music or hearing a good song 10 times before you really like it. That’s made it harder to find good music. But that has less to do with the music actually being bad |

What bothers me about modern pop music (including corporate metal) is that far too much of it sounds almost identical. It feels like they use an algorithm to generate "new" content. If your music doesn't fit in the algorithm, you don't get any promotion. I know it's been that way to some degree for a long time, but it has gotten worse. Just mindless junk recycled ad nauseam. People listen to it because it is easy and they don't really have any understanding of how music gets made.

I will also add that is does not translate to good pep/marching/concert band music.
We used to play Chicago/EWF/ and all other kinds of music for pep and marching band. Horns make a song. Today-it is just. thump thump boom boom thump. The music teachers in my school are having a hell of a time finding music the kids are interested in playing. Kids want something from today--well-it does not work well. The Admin told the teachers to make the class more 'sexy'. yes. You heard it. Justin Timberlake does not turn into a good pep band song when a band is 12 players.
