I’ll always love Alex Smith

I had forgotten how spectacular he was at times for us.

You're not paying attention, apparently

He consistently hypes KC on ESPN

The ones hating on Alex, probably love Skyy

Bowe should have stayed in bounds on that pass at the goal line. He could have scored on that play.

No, he couldn't do it. No, (insert QB here) couldn't do it. That don't mean Alex was the only person who could do it.

No one could. He learned from Reid, and he already had "it" inside from his upbringing. He grew up a MLB pitchers son. Used to shag balls for Deter. He knew the spotlight and it wasn't too big for him.

But to put Alex as the sole reason why he is what he is now, let alone when he stepped into his staring position is obtuse.
I get what you’re saying. But Alex was the best option available to Andy at the time. And Andy chose correctly. Can you name an option at the time that would have been better for the Chiefs?

I always wonder how much influence Mahomes had on Smith in 2016. Seems like when Pat joined the qb room Alex Smith started taking more deep shots than ever before. It could have been coincidental but Alex looked way better after Pat arrived.

2017, but probably a slight bit.

I think Tyreek had more to do with it, though.

I will never understand the hate for Alex. Before him, we had shit for years. I suppose y'all hate Trent Green too.

I get that Mahomes is 1 of 1, but damn, Alex was great for us at the time. He was never going to get us to the promised land, but at least we were not total suck, and he had a ton to do with that.

Plus he's just a good guy. I got no problem at all with Alex.

Good guy, good father? **** you. Go home and play with your kids.

Alice was such a safe throw or sack qb it was nauseating. His abject fear of having a turnover on his sheet kept him from making any plays.

Smith was smart. Too smart. I always pictured Alex playing football with all the completion probability numbers displayed above everyone's heads.

He NEVER took risks to make a play. Christ's sake there was a 4th down against the Raiders, at the end of a game, a gotta gave it play, and this asshole STILL threw the check down.

Alex played not to lose. He never played to win. Marty would've loved Alex.

2017 was Smith's best statistical year of his career, and I don't think it's coincidence that happened with Mahomes waiting in the wings.

Buddy of mine is absolutely convinced we beat the Titans in January '18 wildcard game with Mahomes, even him making his second career start if it were to have happened. 20/20 vision and all, but it's hard to argue with him over it knowing what we know today.

No argument here. But I'll always wonder how having Mike Singletary as your head coach screaming at you to not turn the ball over to go along with five offensive coordinators in the first five seasons to start your career affected his willingness to take risks and not be the reason why the team lost (which ironically led the team to lose more often than not).

All of this.

Everyone who says he was good either never watched the entire Chief games or just look at the record and his mediocre stats.

Didn’t we go like 9-0 with him and every team was .500 or below. People don’t see that shit. He had no balls at all, played the game way too safe.

He’s a good guy, but as average as you can get when it comes to quarterbacking.
