I’ll always love Alex Smith

I had forgotten how spectacular he was at times for us.

You don't know that. Everyone talks like this.

Somebody else could have done it too. So don't make him the reason for anything.

I don't blame him for what he was. A person can only be the best they can be.

But what he was, was just another continuation of every other qb since blackledge. Another plug and play and see if this shit works thing.

And what made me stop going to Chiefs games after 25 years straight of making at least one trip to Arrowhead.

Thank God we finally stopped that shit and got Mahomes.

Sure, Alex was great in seeing what was happening and didn't pull a Rogers and did what he could in developing Pat and also stepping away.

But people seem to think without Alex, Pat wouldn't be Pat. And that's bullshit.

Just my opinion, Sir.

I could've liked Alex the player, but the 49er dipshits made that impossible. Especially that one bundle of sticks who called him AS11.

I have profound and deep respect for what he did for the franchise and for Mahomes, however.

Feel bad for him since getting traded away, though. First his leg and then going through that horrible health scare with his kid.

I was still right about Geno.

If people hate him to this day, it’s bizarre.

But at the time when he was our QB, he was a risk-averse opposite of what we wanted or needed at QB and we were all at our wits end with the decades of dilly-dallying around at the QB position by that point.

Not to mention, the Alexsexual species is the lowest I’ve ever come across of any other human species. That made him even more difficult for some of us to like.

I love Alex for the positive influence he was on Mahomes’s career. I couldn’t wait to not have him as our QB, tho.

Alex Smith was the first legit NFL QB after Trent Green. Brodie Croyle, Tyler Palko, Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn…..probably some other shlub I’m forgetting….oh Matt Casshole.

Hard to believe the bitter argument 14 years ago on this board whether Todd Hayley should start Kyle Orton over Tyler Palko.

Alex Smith was legit, and mobile. Alex Smith could find open receivers, could throw passes and won games. Although he was misused by the 49ers. He was good enough to vet the Chiefs into the playoff and Pat got to start the last game of his redshirt season.

He seems like a very nice fellow but I have no desire to think about his tenure as quarterback for the KC Chiefs, at all!

it's not hate to say you knew Alex was never gonna win a ring from.day 1.

It's not "hate" to say alex had ZERO to do with Mahomes brilliance & magic...Alex is a muggle. Mahomes is a young Gandalf.

It's not "hate" to put yourself back to the Alex Smith days and think it's just another retread hand me down regular season QB since 1983 in a long list of never having the balls to draft a proper QB

It's not "hate" to have wanted more than Alex Smith

If you don't see these facts, you're an alexian whore

Every bit of this. I could not have said it any better. Didn’t realize his kiddo was ill. Wish nothing but the best for him and his family.

He was the best former 49er QB to play for the Chiefs.

Fine. You just disproved my opinion, and now I'm changing that opinion.

No, he couldn't do it. No, (insert QB here) couldn't do it. That don't mean Alex was the only person who could do it.

No one could. He learned from Reid, and he already had "it" inside from his upbringing. He grew up a MLB pitchers son. Used to shag balls for Deter. He knew the spotlight and it wasn't too big for him.

But to put Alex as the sole reason why he is what he is now, let alone when he stepped into his staring position is obtuse.

He doesn't seem to rep KC at all. I don't remember any KC swag behind him in any podcasts. Perhaps he's salty. Don't know why tho, he had one of our best rosters and couldn't get over the hump.
