Let's Talk About the Eagles (Super Bowl 59 Discussion)

We're headed back to the Ship and will try to be the first team to 3-peat in Super Bowl history!!! Chiefs open up as 1.5 favorites over the Eagles.

Discuss.

If we're going by playoff numbers we might as well say Karlaftis is Von Miller.
This is no disrespect to Carter because he can become an absolute beast but he strikes me as a player you could fool very easily into stupid mistakes

They play in the NFC, did they play a first place schedule? Wash last week was missing their best o lineman , our last 3 Super Bowl wins were against teams we were not supposed to compete with . Expect a lot of experts and people to bet against us using mostly feelings/box scores.

This Super Bowl is for a once in a lifetime chance to go down in history. Want this win more than anything, but it will be a very tough game that could go either way, like with Buffalo.
It's still hard for me to wrap my head around this... and on one hand I 'm not melting down if they don't win three ****ing Super Bowls in a row. OTOH, ****, it was hard getting to this point, may never happen again.

Yeah, I’ve seen that (this Eagles team is WAY better than that one) and I just don’t see it.

Yeah, Mitchell is good and an upgrade. Yes, Baun had a huge year and DeJean was effective in the slot.

But to act like it’s this massive upgrade? Yeah, doesn’t track.

That game really came down to one thing - Jalen Hurts played the game of his life.

He's not doing that again. Slow down Barkley, win the game.

It’s pure fan optimism to say either one of these teams is “way better” than two years ago. Simply isn’t true.

They may each be a little better or worse here or there in spots, but as a collective, it’s going to be very close to the teams of Super Bowl LVII.

The wrench Kansas City throws into the equation is on offense, where their season long stats are largely throwaways. We know things completely changed once they got Brown back along with patching LT.

Let’s comp to last year.

Do we think our offense is at anymore of a disadvantage entering this game than we were entering 58 vs. the 49ers defense? I don’t.

Our offense is better now, and the Eagles defense is better than the 9ers were. But it’s about the same difference overall. And like SF, Philly is pretty static on D.

RPO game - the teams that have given our O fits are the ones who can defend the run with just their front four. Bengals and Raiders recently have been great at saying, we’re just gonna let the LBs kinda play pass, and front four is big and strong enough to two-gap and take care of the runs

Can Philly really do that? Their front is already aggressive by nature, and they play smaller lighter DEs.

Caliendo is the key. If it looks like he's on the cusp of another performance like he had against Buffalo I sincerely hope there's contingencies in place. That's a potentially game wrecking mismatch.

Conversely for the Eagles, we'll see just how effective that tush push of theirs is with Hurts, Jurgens, and Dickerson all nicked up to varying degrees.

And for all the talk about IOL not being important by some, 1 IOL **** up by the Rams at a bad time kept the Eagles from losing in the Divisional Round.

Letting Carter run free on that 3rd down with a wide open TE in the endzone cost the Rams that game.

Can’t have that.

Wouldn't say it's not important period, but relative to the LT it really isn't that important.

There's no way in hell Barkley is running for 200 yards and 3 TDs against this Spags defense. I feel better about this SB than any other.

Keep in mind, Washington was within range of pulling off an upset had they not shot themselves in the foot. Iggles won that game, blew it open, because the dummie Commanders kept turning the ball over.
and don't forget the weather slowed down the Rams in their divisional game against the Eagles...Rams probably should have won that one
