Must Watch Series

All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.

For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

Spoiler!

Here is a listing of shows on my list to watch (mostly due to this thread)
Spoiler!

I work a ****ton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.

So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

UPDATED for the shows I've seen recently.

Finally got to see The Leftovers. It is definitely an odd show but the wife and I enjoyed it. The final season definitely went out into lala land but I enjoyed the ending. I don't know why, but when the dad fell off the roof and fell on the Aborigine he had come looking for and killed him... I couldn't quit laughing about it. That was definitely a twist I didn't see coming. I would also say, I couldn't guess anything that was going to happen. Usually, I am pretty good at seeing what is going to happen in a movie or show. I was always way the **** off on this one.

Gonna say this again. I'm really glad I came into this thread. I've watched so many recommendations and have really liked pretty much all of it.

Just finished Say Nothing and really enjoyed it up until
Spoiler!
after that it gets kinda stale, but at least there's only a couple of episodes left after that point. Wife didn't like it, because of the accents, but I loved the accents lol.

We are currently watching Shrinking. It's really a nice show after all of the stressful and suspenseful shows we've been watching. I don't think I've ever watched something more stressful than the season finale of Severance. Dark Matter also had a few really suspenseful episodes. I just needed a break from all of that haha.

i've enjoyed Shrinking as well - lots if good laughs. A bit unsettling how ****ed these health care professionals are in their own lives, but that is what gives grist for the comedy mill.

La Palma is a miniseries on Netflix which is a'ight over a holiday with nothing better going on

If you can overlook some of the eyeroll human element moments, the utter stupidity of the characters, and scientific impossibilities, it delivers a decent tsunami event

Fun to see someone watching this series for the first time ever. I watch it again every 3-4 years it seems and it's still in my top 5 of all time. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea and I understand that but it presses all the right buttons for me. And I totally forgot about the roof scene (as its not something that usually sticks out for me when watching) but yeah...hilarious

Black Doves on Netflix has been pretty good. It does check all the "woke" boxes as per modern Netflix productions are seemingly forced to incorporate these days if you're looking to avoid all of that, but I've still quite enjoyed it. 6-part miniseries starring Kiera Knightley.

I wouldn’t say it checks ALL the woke boxes. I mean it was kinda woman forward, but it wasn’t men or evil or bumbling morons. I think objectively if I was looking for something that WASNT woke I think I could talk myself into it.

Overall it was pretty well written, acted and produced. The only real criticism is that you have to shut your mind off for some of the action stuff, but that’s a lot of things these days. Ultimately if you want to have beats that are woke, they better fit and produce something good. I think Black Doves did that.

I'm enjoying Black Doves

Knightley's character Helen has a striking resemblance to my wife's best friends who also has 2 kids, travels extensively for work, a cold heart, and what appears to be a convenience marriage. So its kind of fun to envision her friend Kelly as a murderous spy

The story is a bit far fetched and a little heavy handed at times but overall its done well and is entertaining

Im only a couple episodes in but enjoying Shrinking. Light hearted fun, I agree w/ dlwpgh-whatever. Sometimes this is nice when you've been watching a lot of serious stuff.

The Agency. It's pretty up and down. I really enjoyed episode 2 and 3 but I think they had more action. Im starting to get bored with the Samia storyline. Hopefully it's starting to go somewhere

Season 2 of Silo is yet another example of a show going from promising to dog shit from one season to the next. Very disappointing.

Remains one of my favorite shows ever. It’s both hilarious and dark at the same time. Gets better on a re-watch too and the ending is just perfect.

Unfortunately have to agree here

S2E1 had some promise but its become a bogged down slog since and the continuous back-and-forth storylines makes the pacing worse

Plus its like the entire season was filmed with the GoT "The Long Night" camera crew. I have a dedicated home theater with no glare and a quality TV and I'm like Stevie Wonder watching this thing

Solo and Bernard are basically cartoon characters. The entire show feels like a cutscene from a "meh" video game.
