Pittbulls kill 2 year old and 5 month old

Quote:
Two young children are dead and their mother suffered major injuries after two family dogs attacked a baby and toddler outside their West Tennessee home.Kirstie Bennard, 30, suffered critical injuries when she tried to intervene in the attack on her 5-month-old boy, Hollace Dean, and 2-year-old girl, Lilly Jane, family and police said.

"She put her body on top of Lilly’s to try and protect her after the attack started," Bennard's uncle by marriage, Jeff Gibson told USA TODAY on Saturday. "Both (dogs) started attacking her while she lay on Lilly."The two children were pronounced dead when officials arrived at the home, the sheriff's office reported.

It was not immediately known what provoked the mauling. The mauling, Gibson said, lasted about 10 minutes. The dogs – two pit bulls that belonged to the family – were euthanized at Memphis Animal Services Thursday.

The family owned the pets, Cheech and Mia, for more than eight years without a violent incident, Kelsey Canfield, the mother's best friend, told Fox News.

"I can promise you those children were her world, and if there was any inkling of danger, she would have never had those dogs near her kids," Canfield told the outlet. "Those children were everything to them, and they just have a really long journey ahead."

How do you feel about PittBull's? I posted this because my wife shared this story with me and my son was just recently participating in a "read to sheltered dogs" event where you could adopt a dog (I know brilliant).

I've heard the arguments that PittBull's get a bad wrap, but it seems time and time again they are the focal point of dogs who do these horrible acts.

Oh they'd be ****ing dead if that were my son. Someone had one of those bastards up at the golf course walking it yesterday and it wanted to attack anything that moved. They could barely control the thing. I was just waiting for it to get loose and come after me. It was about to get a hybrid smashed across its face.

It would probably keep going. I've seen too many videos where blunt force trauma does nothing to these dogs.

You have to penetrate it with something.

I honestly don't think ONE dog could kill me. But it could definitely scar and hurt me pretty bad.

People are way too scared of the dog. The dog is not letting go. Just take off your damn belt and strangle the ****ing thing.

That’s what we used as kids in the 60s and 70s before there were leash laws. Had a squirt gun holster on both bikes I had growing up.

Told ya. Common denominator is always a gaggle of weak, ineffective adults who can’t put a stop to the carnage.

The fact that people are even afraid of dogs in the first place is crazy to me.

I think you’re right. A pit is just not going to let go with someone hitting it with a stick or whatever. In absence of something that could knock it out or kill it like a large brick (or ahem, firearm) you need to strangle it. No matter how strong all mammals are vulnerable. There’s a reason why the Brazilians call the RNC the “Lion Killer”.

I think if you are wearing a belt that might work but might be hard to get it around the neck and cinch it properly. In the fog of war maybe doesn’t work. I think maybe a more simplistic and effective method would be to take off your shirt, grab by the sleeves, wrap around dog’s neck then pull it like a shoestring really hard and fast. Get it in there deep enough and squeeze tight. That might work.

Other people on Twitter helpfully said that you should grab the dog by hind legs and pull it off, stomp on legs to break them or stick your finger or stick up its asshole. I feel like I learned something today.
