***Official 2024/2025 KC Royals Offseason Thread***

Royals went from 56-106 to 86-76.

Made the playoffs. Took out the Orioles on the road.

Lost in four games to the Yankees by 4 runs.

Finally got a bullpen.

Had two pitchers who will finish in the top five for the Cy Young.

Bobby Witt jr turned into a superstar likely being an MVP #2 to that phag in NY.

Salvy just kept doing Salvy stuff.

Vinnie came back from shoulder surgery and had a helluva year.

Cole Ragans had a full season. His arm didn’t fall off. He’s probably top five for Cy Young.

Seth Lugo is gonna finish top five for Cy Young. He’s like Rick Reed. And he’s ours for at least another season.

Brady Singer will get his next time with arbitration. And I’m ambivalent, but I know it’s damn hard to find healthy arms who could be be better as a 3/4 starter.

Michael Wacha was more than everything we could’ve ever wanted, but I say let that man fly unless he wants to take a dumb contract, which he won’t do.

That gives us Alec Marsh who was pretty great for his role.

And we have Wright coming in, plus Bubic who could start.

But this team needs another bat and wingman for Bobby. It’s perfect that Juan Soto would fill many roles, but it ain’t happening.

Adames is someone I like. And we can dangle Massey/Garcia. Just a thought.

This team…. I hope they go into the offseason working hard, and I hope they got the glitter out of their eyes.

Good team with obvious weakness, and a perennial superstar ready to erupt….

Sherman and JJ should be on the phone soon

I think I like this India/Reimer for Singer deal.

On its own, it’s a pretty fair deal for both sides. Neither player is perfect, but they might be more of a “perfect” fit going forward.

Two years left on both players(Reimer excluded).

India stabilizes the top of the order for KC. He draws a lot of walks and takes a ton of pitches. All he’s gotta do is just keep doing what he’s doing and he’ll be a terrific place setter for Bobby, Vinnie and Salvy. Though I do wish he was a left handed hitter.

Singer gives the Cincy rotation some stability. He’s rarely hurt, and a few days he’ll give you #1 starter stuff, but because he uses so many pitches, his value is as 3rd starter at best. Nothing wrong with that, just is what it is.

It’s always kind of a bummer seeing a guy who your team has drafted, developed, go through the growth of finding their niche in the majors go to another team, and with that said, I’ll miss Brady and I’ll wish him well.

But I think he’s pretty replaceable with what we already have in Marsh, Bubic, Wright and others…

We didn’t have anyone like India, and that’s gonna be a big help to the lineup.

Not a big fan of India not really having a position, but I think that’ll get worked out in the offseason and during ST.

Hopefully this is just one of several more moves, but on paper, this is a good move for KC. We’ve got our leadoff man. Get another real bat to the lineup, maybe another starter and bullpen arm and I like our chances going forward.

I know Cleveland wouldn't be interested in parting with him, but a guy like Kwan would really extend the order nicely. They should move for Brendan Donovan from the Cardinals instead though.

Wiemer makes the deal work from a value perspective. Plays a great CF and has proven he can hit lefties with power and OBP, so we no longer have to watch Isbel struggle against them. Also a defensive replacement in late innings for a corner OF. Stole a lot of bases in the minors too.

True. One thing about India... he takes a LOT of pitches. He walks decently... but he has 7-10+ pitch at bats regularly, IIRC.

Having that in front of Witt and Salvy will be verrry niiiiice. /Borat

In 2015 we traded a pitcher, Brandon Finnegan, to the Reds... and we won the World Series! It's a sign!

Wonder if Wacha is kicking himself for signing so early? He must certainly would have gotten a much better deal if he had waited.

Reportedly the dude and his family really wanted to stay in KC. I’m also gonna take a guess that 17/per in KCMO about washes out with 21/per in LA.

Yeah good point about COL, but I wouldn't call $12 mil extra over 3 years a wash. That's a pretty significant amount of money. However, I would also much prefer KC to LA.
