A lot of the best teams from the past 2-3 years have regressed badly.

Bengals, 49ers, Bills. The Ravens defense is for awful and 31st in pass defense.

Threepeat is on a silver platter fellas

the texans are def gonna be a match for us. i know they havent been blowing people away BUT they’re young and they’re learning how to win close games. they also have by fer the most balanced team out of them, buffalo, and baltimore.

Yeah - the Ravens are already off the mat so they're not going anywhere.

The Bills had a shot to deliver a bit of a killing blow but shit the bed. The Bengals Bengaled it up.

At 3-2, the Ravens are gonna coast to that division title and at this point likely represent our biggest threat at the 1 seed (provided that we don't likewise stall out in Rice's absence).

Buffalo has to revert to ground and pound and I'm just not sure they have the defense for that approach. I know the stats aren't bad for them defensively but where's the talent on that D?

It's just a bunch of JAGS.

Why?

You take the guy 3rd overall ahead of 3 guys who are in contention for 1.1 in a lot of seasons (Alt, Harrison and Nabers) then you must clearly like the guy.

And you're not playing for anything this season.

I can see the merit in it.

I remember reading the Ravens defense lost a couple guys, but nobody expected them to be THIS bad, right? Even if it was only week 1, that game was night and day different than the AFCCG, where Mahomes had tiny windows to throw into.... and they obviously haven't made any strides since then.

looking at the texans schedule they are just as much in the 1 seed race as baltimore, if not more. the ravens may be off the mat but their defense is legitimately bad. the texans defense is a lot more promising than baltimore’s, and i trust stroud more than lamar at the end of the day. i think there’s a decent chance they’re 12-2 or 11-3 headed into the late back to back games they have against the ravens and chiefs. those games are gonna be massive

Lots of warts around the league but we’ve also got a ****ton of injuries..

Idk. I think it’s too early to tell. League will likely look very different come January.

i don’t see the point in throwing him out there w their embarrassingly bad offense to flounder for 10 weeks. let him sit and have brisset be the sacrificial lamb. they’re not doing shit this year so why put your rookie qb in a position where he will almost definitely fail? shit like this is why all these rookie qbs suck, they just get thrown into shitty situations like this and it snowballs and snowballs.

Losing the DC is a big deal.

Remember about 3-4 years ago the Ravens defense started to stumble a bit because the talent just wasn't there. They kinda peaked around 2018 and then declined a bit in 19, 20 and in 21 just seemed ordinary.

Suddenly last year they were world beaters after showing improvement in 2022 (when Macdonald arrived) and the talent was about the same level it had been.

I think that was a result of scheme.

From a pure talent standpoint, this defense looks a lot like the 2021 version that simply wasn't a good defense. It was average on its best days. Well that was the last season before MacDonald got there and he's in Seattle now.

Nah.

Rookie QBs suck because they suck. I've never bought the 'set up to fail' stuff. At least I've never found it to be a universal truth.

Bryce Young sucked because he sucked. Jayden Daniels doesn't suck and it's made the Commanders look orders of magnitude better than anyone expected.

And then you look at someone like Baker - He was in a bad situation as a rookie in Cleveland but looked like a promising QB. It wasn't until he got hurt and tried to play through it that he turned to shit.

And people wanna talk about Darnold but shit man, Darnold has Jefferson and Addison and now he's fine. Being a Jet didn't seem to permanently wreck him. So why would playing wreck Maye?

There's little risk of long-term harm in playing Maye. And if the team around him is garbage, so be it. It's not going to continue to impact him if/when the team ISN'T garbage anymore. And perhaps playing him can jump-start them to the point that they become not garbage sooner.

If he's not ready - cool, don't play him. But they've seen him. They know what he's got. If they think he's ready to be at least as good as Brisset is, go ahead and send him out there.

I think plenty of guys have sucked because they, well, suck, but i think there have definitely been situations where guys may have had different careers had they sat their first year. I think you can definitely argue that playing rn could affect him moving forward, confidence is a MASSIVE part of a QB playing well, and there’s a 95% chance he’s gonna spend the year getting pressured on half his drop backs and having his shitty wrs drop half their passes. Brisset had already almost gotten injured behind this line, why risk it with Maye?

there are other situations where i could see it more, maybe if he had oke decent weapon or the offensive line was closer to bottom 10 instead of bottom-3. but the patriots offense is particularly dire. they don’t have a single above average player there.

and yea, the jets didnt “ruin” darnold necessarily, but he’s balling for another team and not them. so they ruined it for themselves lmao

The back end just isn't what it was. They've tried to add and it's not bad, but the DC leaving hurt.
