With the way rice is playing, use a good draft pick on a good WR (either an all purpose WR1 or a speed guy). Find a speed midget in the back half of the draft. Find a TE in the draft. With the savings from mvs spend reasonably on what you couldn't draft.

We have a good path now for getting aggressive without having to do anything crazy

Meantime let's ride mvs' frank Clark mode which at this point is just asking him not to make mistakes on the 1-2 targets he gets.

But in the end they're not gonna stand for that kind of individualistic behavior. Going out there and making a spectacle of yourself on social media just before the AFCCG is just really not acceptable.

So yeah - I expect he's gone next year. Prior to that I wouldn't have said so, but I don't think they'll keep him around now. And I figure they only reason they haven't waived him now is to make sure he doesn't end up returning punts or some shit for SF next week.
Watch the mic-ed up clips from the Super Bowl last year.

After the two plays that Toney made (the punt return and TD), Reid and I think Kelce say something curious to him.

Something to the effect of “that’s why you keep your head in the game, you never know when your moment is coming”.

I always found it odd that he heard it from a couple guys. With no context, it seems like just boosting him up.

With more context (weird things we’ve seen this year), I really wonder if he pouting on the sideline about not getting the ball or something.

If we can bring back Sneed and Tranquil, then the draft can pretty much focus on offensive weapons and DL.

I think we need a mid round running back too. Love Pacheco, but it sure feels like this won’t last forever with him. Seems to always be dinged up with a violent play style.

Because I do think Pat really likes him. And as I've said in tepid defense of him around here this year, he does a lot of the little gruntwork things well.
I'd guess he could get 7 or 8 million on the market though right?

This thread deserves a Hall Of Classics nomination because it’s a Hot Topic store of idiocy.

I am not discounting our success. I’m just saying it’s given us leeway to work through mistakes.

I personally believe we inflated how good our WR room was and were blessed with rashee progressing quickly. And I think veach acknowledges that when Reid goes against his instincts and pushes rice out quickly and when you’re willing to trade for a guy he didn’t originally think would make your top 7. I would say we overestimated Toney and skyy, and the Ross experiment isn’t looking so hot. We will be fine but it’s because we’re adjusting out of our original plan.

This thread has just turned into absolute comedy.

The schedule hasn’t changed. It’s been the same since the NFL published it. Not one thing has bounced their way schedule wise. Last season the schedule included (guessing here) 8 playoff teams in the first 10 games?

This team will lose a couple more games along the way. Maybe not be the 1 seed even. Should the Chiefs have to go on the road, do you think any team wants to see the Chiefs and Mahomes on the other side of the field? In the playoffs?

The day will come when Mahomes takes this team on the road and (just like at home last season) leads them to victory and a SB.

They're probably gonna go value picks at WR again, people will flip out, and well....we know how the rest goes.

Nelson Agholor. That's his career path to me.

Had a 2 year $26 million deal with NE then his market faded. Baltimore getting him for a 1 year $3.25 million deal was good.

I think that will be MVS's market for his next contract. And honestly that's not terribly bad for him. MVS was a really nice weapon his first year here. And his size and speed is a top tier formula for the role he plays.

He had a really bad year I'd take him back if the money was right.

No, winning the lottery is luck. What we did was skill, focus and preparation. Did you not just watch the performances Pat, Kelce and the D just put on?

JFC, did you actually post this, thinking you were making the other poster look bad and yourself look good?

Were you expecting the Chiefs to be facing Zach Wilson/Jets when the schedule was originally "published"?

Also learn how to properly quote past posts.

A few weeks back I was pretty confident that FA and the draft would give us an obvious and fairly painless way to re-stock at WR. I've cooled on this a bit since as I can see a way for FA to not play out how we want AND a draft situation where what's left at WR is more of a punt than a sure thing.
We all know the days of Mahomes throwing to Hill-level WRs are probably over, but we might actually be looking at him throwing to a lot more mid-ranking guys than, say, top-20-30 talent even. Which, frankly, is still working.

It was luck last year. It was luck this year.

A complete inability to acknowledge that this team has multiple ways to construct a roster and be ultra-successful. It’s remarkable.

Some of you actually feel as if we cheated getting here with this group of WRs led by the best player in history and a top-3 defense. You’d be so much more satisfied if we had great receivers and a middling defense and found our way to this point. And I don’t get it.

It is pretty amazing how they are able to change parts of the team and continue to have success. Bulls did it in their second repeat and Patriots obviously did it. There might have been other teams in another sport that have done it that I am not familiar with but the list is very small.

It's a salary cap league. Trying to tread water isn't going to work. Churning the roster, continually trying to get younger position group by position group is the best way to try to win each year when you have the QB.

This isn't luck. This is the design.

Of course they were expecting more from the other WRs, but they knew that the defense was going to be a strong point that they could lean on. And Mahomes and Kelce are still them.

Right. It's a combination of good drafting, coaching, and FA signings. Definitely not luck, you'd have to be a moron to think a team can have the success the Chiefs have had due to luck.
