Agreed. I liked an updated Bellicheck system for the Mahomes era.

Elite QB
Good Oline
Great defense
JAG WR’s & RB’s
Better than average special teams

Which Veach did this year but whiffing on the JAG WR part. Which as we saw, can bring the whole approach down.

If we had four DRobs instead of MVS, JWat, Toney and Skyy, we'd probably be undefeated right now. And it still would look kind of clunky, but at least they'd line up correctly, run most of their routes properly, and catch footballs at a league average rate.

It just blows my mind that not one of these shitsticks can't do the basic minimum requirements at least as well as DRob did.

Oh to have DRob, Pringle, and Chris Conley on this '23 team.

Lol, right? It sounds crazy. But I would be orgasmic if we had DRob and Conley in KC right now instead of (pick any two reeruns) currently calling themselves Chiefs WRs right now.

edit: because some people are tards, "any two reeruns" not named Rashee Rice

There's also the coaching element that you wonder about. D-Rob is a solid example of it. He would constantly run backwards after catching the ball in KC, whereas the Rams coaches have gotten him to stop that bullshit.

The Rams are getting excellent production from a 5th rounder in Nacua. They found one of the best receivers in the league in the 3rd round with Cooper Kupp. Whatever they are doing with McVay's coaching staff & front office, I wish KC could figure out something similar in terms of evaluation and coaching on the WR group.

They draft WR's that are good at running routes. Nakua, Kupp, etc

Obviously there is more to playing WR than that but that's the thing our scouts don't prioritize. We also don't draft guys after the 2nd, one guy was Powell years ago.

So we need better picks and more picks. Plus they kept Kupp and paid him. We traded our #1 away so now we need more than they do.

Robinson is being used by McVay as their X and that is allowing him to isolate Kupp and Nakua.

Meh, I mean DRob hasn't entirely given up running backwards/sideways trying to make a play. Watched a highlight reel a week or two ago and he was at it again. But he made up the yards and gained a few extra. Which he did many times here in KC as well. I think it's just a part of his game, and sometimes it works out well, most of the time it doesn't really hurt, and sometimes it's a negative. But mostly it's either a non-factor or it's a net positive.

But yeah, McVay seems to have a nose for finding WRs in later rounds that KC seems to lack. Nacua is just an amazing example.

How often does a coaching staff have to dumb down a playbook so badly for its WR's? Can't remember us ever doing this in the Andy Reid era.

It's like Andy and Nagy have to get colors out and draw pictures for some of these yahoos. Completely embarrassing

It was obvious weeks ago that this group can’t function and that they needed to remove stuff, reduce motion, take away options.

Well, it's not a lot to be optimistic about at this point, but...

it seems to me, that if the defenses are just going to squat at the line, there are answers.

We have two sub 4.4 speedsters, Hardman and MVS. They need to go vertical, early, and often. Make the defense cover it. Just throw it a few times. Make them honor it.

Ritchie was a first down machine for NY last year. Put him in the slot, try to get that going.

And Ross gives you a big, tall, long armed guy that we don't have otherwise; if he's drawing the other team's 4th corner, surely you can chuck a few 50/50 balls up high where only he can go get it.

What are they gonna do, double cover Justyn ****in' Ross? Nah.

If you can get them moved off the line, then your running game and drop-offs to Pacheco get rolling and maybe you can have some efficient offense again.

Do you think they massively changed the playbook? I highly doubt it.

MVS particularly was here last year. 2 training camps, 2 OTA's in the same system with the same offensive HC and OC and he's still making massive mistakes running routes correctly, catching the ball and sitting in the right spots?

And that's not a players fault? Sorry but coaching can only go so far. Dude lined up offsides like Toney 2 weeks prior.

That's on him

If they actually stop switching our WRs all the damn time that would be a start. You don't need to gave 9 different guys catch the ball every game. Get some consistency. Let them get some confidence.
