Let's Talk About the Cheaters (AKA Patriots Week)

Nothing would make me more happy to get on track with a huge win against the most fraudulent organization in the NFL in their own building. Need Pacheco, Smith, Tranquill, and Cook back soon. Also, need Bolton to play his usual snap count.

Could be the last time Reid and Belichick faceoff. Time to put Belichick out of his misery and send him into retirement.

Chiefs - 30

Spygaters - 3

Whatever is wrong with your WRs, we'll fix it.

Sure, sometimes we trick inexperienced QBs with unexpected switches, which we are pretty good at, but Patrick is too damn clever for us and won't be fooled like Trubisky was last week. I mean.....it's Trubisky. He doesn't even belong in the same league with the future GOAT and you all know it.

Oh, and I apologize for the flex to Sunday because we are so flipping lame this year. We'll try to get the rivalry, which was a really good one for a while there, going again once we draft a viable QB in April. 2023 has taught me that it's hard to win in the NFL without a QB who can at least manage a game. Who knew?

I'm still hoping that somehow we land Caleb Williams, because nobody would dare flex that matchup because the kid copies Pat like Stevie Ray copied Hendrix. And he did all right. The gunslinger squares off against the new kid in town would be a tasty storyline, but for now, congrats in advance on your decisive win.

Well, it sounds good. I hope it works out that way. Though if your DBs can cover your WRs in practice, they'll probably be able to put the clamps our on WRs, aside from Rice.

I agree though, the rivalry was pretty good while it lasted.

Regardless, I'm probably still betting the under, if I decide to bet this game.

One thing about the Pats is that most teams who have such a shitty record have already quit and are squabbling with each other. That is not the case here.

We had major issues with the Oline through the first half of the season and getting a few guys back and a few other moves (Onwenu from RG to RT) and a little actual cohesion have improved the protection from non-existent to average. Deciding to pull the plug on Mac Jones was another move that has helped a little, but all that happened concurrent to a bunch of injuries to the few skill guys we had.

I figured it was worth mentioning that these guys still have a lot more fight than you might expect and have (outside of STs) started playing smarter football with fewer pre-snap issues.

Most Patriots fans think Bailey Zappe is a scrub with a noodle arm, but he's actually 3-1 in his 4 starts (over two seasons) and may eventually figure it out. I think he throws harder than Jones did (but not a laser) and moves pretty well in the pocket, but neither his accuracy on the move or judgement is good enough so far. He set the all-time NCAA record for TDs and Yards during 2021 at Western Kentucky but is mostly an unknown.

The one thing that stands out about this team looking around the league is that we almost never blow a coverage. Our D is extremely well-coordinated and smart. Jabril Peppers is playing the best football of his career and is the best tackler of a solid group and Christian Barmore has really come on in year 3 as an inside pass rusher who disrupts the pocket.

It's all about Patrick cracking the code and he's going to have to work hard to beat a D that has excelled despite zero help from their Offense.

We'll probably lose, but we won't roll over and beg for mercy.

I know overreaction planet is a cliche but like yeah posters here do tend to overreact to losses.

it'll be a win, it'll be an ugly win and a low scoring win but a win nonetheless. Belichick's gonna get fired after this season but it's not like the game has passed him by on the defensive side, he's still got it. But like c'mon it's the 3-10 patriots

At some point in the Packers game he hurt the same shoulder he had surgery on.

I would be surprised if he plays this week given the opponent.

This is a good summary of the 2023 Pats season. The one thing that's not mentioned is that in a season of virtually no momentum, there is a little bit right now for NE. They won last week after 5 straight close losses. The D has been great of late. Zappe looked way more functional last week than Jones had been. The OL and the team in general is a little healthier. The fans are ready for a big December game and take out their frustrations. The mood about Belichick has turned a bit, not so negative around there. The Chiefs better watch out.

The Patriots for sure have a chance in this game. Zappe has been light years better than Mac in the pocket. The D has been playing great all season. That being said, I assume Patty will be ripped after last week and come out swinging ...

Put another way. If an NFL team upgrades a couple of pieces of equipment in their weight room, they do so with the realization that chances are if it doesn't help in recruitment of players, it may just help them win 1 damn game in 25 year period. Maybe a whole new ulta modern weight room and training facility results in 1 win over 5-6 years. But most -- not all -- teams would still be willing to spend the money to increase odds of that extra win.

This logic is really the reason why NFL teams started hiring more assistant coaches and scouts. Long time ago, there wasn't many coaches/people in football operations but nowadays teams hire a crazy amount of coaches even though they must realize their is a diminishing returns after a certain point. Some teams don't care since in a competitive league one win over 5 to 10 year period can be important.

Belichick or any other coach in a league in which 1 regular season win over a 5 year period can be the difference between keeping your job, losing your job and never being a head coach again or losing your job and being hired elsewhere, will be happy to do something that increases the odds they get that additional win.

I can guarantee you if Belichick knew that deflate gate and Spygate would result in the loss of 2 first round picks and I believe a 3rd or 4th rounder, he would like to go back and have that all done and take his chances on what the Patriots would have done without that "minor convenience". Players win games much more than coaching and that is why the Patriots went from a bad team with a very good QB(Bledsoe) to very good team with the GOAT(Brady).

Mangini was defensive coordinator of the Patriots and he is on record saying the information wasn't very valuable. It was very minor but so isn't upgrading a few pieces of equipment in the weight room or a minor upgrade in trainers.

Every very little minor thing can add up and Belichick believed in doing as much as possible that was legal.

He was only hiding it from opponents to the extent he was since even if you think video taping in the NFL is legal from a certain area, you don't want your opponent to raise their guard more than they would have.
So you admit they cheated, so the asterisks stand...

Zeke Elliot will have his best game of the season, probably 100 yards or just under in the first half. 60 receiving, 40 rushing, because we just flat out ignore the opposing offense's running backs.

This will be another grinder, with Belicheat erasing Kelce from the game, while running the most sweaty try hard ball control offense you've ever seen.

The offense will again be in another position where they don't have very many possessions, and will need to get it right the first time.

It'll be a dull 17-6 or 17-10 contest but we will come out on top just simply due to their offense being a whole lot worse than ours is.

Chiefs have ALL of their linebackers back for this game.
