They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

I'm not making any kind of argument about talent acquisition strategy. Just in terms of target share among receivers and offensive weapons in general, the Chiefs are outliers this year. They're spreading the ball around way more than other teams.

Here's the article where Nagy talks about the committee approach in the wide receiver room. That's all I was referring to.

I don't think we need a 'traditional number 1 receiver'.

But I think we DO need a traditional 3 man rotation at the position.

The problem isn't necessarily that we won't give Rice 85% of the snaps (though I think that would help). The problem is that we don't seem willing to give ANYONE a reasonably consistent snap share.

The WRBC thing is just an absolute disaster and yet 2/3 of the way through the season we won't get away from it. Even if it's not the WRs fault (as O.City suggests - the rotation may indicate the coaches think the WRs are doing a fine job), it's still ****ing up their chemistry with Mahomes.

The 'why' of it doesn't matter at this point. Just that it's not working. So stop doing it.

Or don't, and exit the playoffs early, and everyone learns from it. Then seriously upgrade the WR room and go scorched earth next season.

i thought the same thing on that play.

Collinsworth - chode - is fawning over how they defended it and I'm just sitting there saying "Well shit, Mahomes threw it a yard behind him on a 2 yard shovel pass. That's just god-awful execution"

A LOT of this is on PM. It just is what it is. And now I think it's in his head to the point that we may just need a hard re-set. I'm not gonna write a year off or anything, but I don't know how he's going to just get his mind right as mid-season.

Agree with all of this. It's time to simplify the rotation.

We know Andy has a tendency to want to outsmart an opponent, even if we have the horses to out-execute them (short-yardage situations this year come to mind).

I think Andy and Nagy like to experiment and tinker, and we're to the point here with the wide receiver rotation where it's messed with Mahomes and made him hesitant.

I just don't know what the deal is. It's like when they play teams he's familiar with (AFC and AFCW) teams he just carves them up, then we play NFC teams and it's just like he sees ghosts.

But what's a hard reset look like?

The harsh reality of the whole thing is that, with him making what he makes, financially, there's just so much you can do.

Get 2/3 good weapons and force feed them the ball.
Dallas' offense started blowing up once they started force feeding CeeDee, I have no doubt the same would happen here if that happened with Kelce, Rice and Pacheco.

It was like the Raiders game showed them what they should be doing and they scrapped it to go back to the bullshit they were doing before.

Get Moore off the field.
Target Rice, Kelce and Pacheco.
Get Gray more involved.

Every time I see this thread bumped and read the title, I think of the Seinfeld episode with Newman and Kramer talking about Keith Hernandez.

Kramer: "We hate Keith Hernandez, hate him!"

Newman: "I despise him!"

Replace his name with any given KC receiver.

Mahomes needs to voice his preference for WRs in the field most of the snaps. His opinion should be taken very seriously.

An off-season.

He has to get away from the week to week grind. There's an alternative but I won't speak its name.

There's a happy median somewhere. I shared on the "other Gameday Thread" a few weeks ago that the 49ers are going to wear McCaffrey out by the time the playoffs arrive. They may get lucky and keep everyone healthy, but they have already had times with Samuel and McCaffrey being banged up this year and they are running them into the ground. Maybe they all make it to the end and are 90% and fairly healthy, but with the useage they are getting that's rolling the dice.

Or the Packers game? Rashee has 19 targets the last 2 games. Got targeted on the first play of the game.

Sure seems like they're actively focusing on him
