He didn't win a SB by trading Tyreek. He traded Tyreek and did give us barely enough to have a chance last year when he signed JuJu and even MVS. If you want to give Veach credit his defensive picks helped win that SB. You are the one changing the subject and jumping all over the place. Framing indeed. My point was he traded away offensive talent in Hill, let JuJu walk and this year replaced poorly while Baltimore was adding offensive talent this offseason. |

They 'added' because Devin Duvernay was their leading returning wide receiver. By adding OBJ to their existing group, they brought it on par with what we THOUGHT we had. Again, MVS averaged about 600 yards/season over the previous 5 seasons and that's about what the Ravens are going to get from OBJ. MVS has a half-decade track record prior to this season of putting up about 40 YPG - this year he's at 22. There was no reasonable expectation of that happening.
And Duvernay/Toney are very similar in terms of talent/projectability. This is just a classic "Grass is greener" scenario. The Ravens haven't done appreciably more than we have with the position. What they got is about what they expected out of OBJ and Duvernay where we HAVEN'T gotten that out of MVS/Toney. Their guys have performed at the level expected of them. Ours haven't. We thought we had a 6-700 yard veteran receiver in MVS; they knew they didn't so they signed OBJ. This idea that they've aggressively layered talent is just nutty.

MVS and OBJ are the same dude? Yikes. You are lost. You need to stop just throwing numbers out without context. Baltimore spreads the ball around more. I like Rice but just watching Zay Flowers play I realize I was wrong. I liked him coming out but he is WAY better than I thought. Nothing to do with numbers. He's special. |

MVS has average 40 yards/gm over the last 5 years.
OBJ will average roughly 40 yards/gm this season. And didn't play last season. And has averaged roughly 40 yards/gm this decade. Who they've been and who they could've reasonably be expected to be this season are two different questions. If anyone came into this season expecting 900+ yards (i.e. about 50 yards/gm from OBJ) they did so based on faith and nothing more.

OBJ is the 3rd target in Baltimore. He isn't there to pad stats but to help them win a SB. OBJ would be the #1 WR here. |

OBJ hasn't been a WR1 since 2019. Dude has had 2 ACL tears and is old.
If he was WR1 here it wouldn't be much different at all. He's name value from 5 years ago..

Cooper Kupp was the WR1 on that team not OBJ

Huh? 27 receptions for 305 yards and 5 TDs for the half season he was there. Injured in the second quarter of the Super Bowl. He was pretty damn good in the NFC Championship and that's about it.

BAL is bringing him along just as McVay did in LAR. Right now, odell is playing WR3, seeing maybe 4-5 targets a game. Come the playoffs, he'll almost certainly leapfrog over Bateman and assume a much greater role, just as McVay tried to use him. And he still is talented/intelligent enough to raise his level of play to meet that goal. If he were a Chief, he'd probably be the WR1 just on ability alone, if not for Andy's need to have players go through "the process." With that in mind, yeah, OBJ would probably be the WR3, and see 4-5 targets/game, until the playoffs. But he'd actually run the right routes, make the right adjustments, and actually catch the ball, so yeah, he'd be a big improvement.
