I'm having a hard time thinking this is primarily a coaching problem. I really think this is a talent problem plain and simple.

MVS and Skyy just suck and don't ever show anything but yet there's Rashee Rice, 2nd rd pick from the American Athletic Conference making plays right out of the gate and now doing really well with WR1 snaps. Toney did well too early on, but dropped the ball. Dude got open and was where he was supposed to be week 1.

Anyone remember the opener when Rice knew to go where Mahomes was on that improvised play? He immediately made an impact whereas Skyy Moore can't do that at all with almost 2 full seasons under his belt.

I think it's talent plain and simple. I mean look at how badly the defense faltered with Jack Cochrane replacing Tranquill? We didn't blame that on scheme, we knew it was the same.

It's not scheme to me. Skyy Moore just ****ing sucks and he also makes mental errors to personify his suck.

They were probably just trying to pick up another quick 8-10 yards with them playing soft to make final play a little closer. That was my take last night?

The fact MVS and Skyy get most of the snaps in this WRBC shit is a coaching problem.

The fact they're too scared to play Toney as a WR now is a coaching problem.

The fact we brought in Hardman and did literally nothing to play to his strengths is a coaching problem

The fact Rice is only producing force feeding him bubble screens is a coaching problem.

There's no actual development going on here. Only regression and stagnantion.

Yeah, I know. Part of the reason ii was so excited when we acquired him and I did a little background research on toney. A wildly physically gifted athlete, with football intelligence? I was stoked.

But I've run out of possible excuses for why he's not being used except for a handful of plays per game, and few of those as a WR.

The mere fact that JWat and Skyy are getting more than twice as many snaps and targets is beyond understandable at this point, unless there's something Toney's not grasping.

Because as an athlete, he's second to none among our WRs. If you were to pick one of our WRs to get the ball in space vs. any defense, I'd pick Toney every single time, because he's so damn difficult to tackle out in the open.

So it makes absolutely no sense not to have him targeted at least a half dozen times/game in the intermediate zones.

the only thing I can come up with is that Toney isn't doing something consistently or correctly or both.

If Rice is now our #1WR how about sending him downfield?!

We’ve tried MVS, Watson and Skyy Moore and none do anything there in an offense desperate to get passes past 10 yards.

That would be development and we need it now.

Traded for Hardman and didn't use him as a deep threat. 10 targets, 8 catches, 41 yards. Absolutely asinine usage of his talents.

People need to stop blaming coaching on Skyy and MVS. MVS a veteran WR in year 6. He was in this same offense last year. Skyy was in this same offense last year as well.

At some point these guys ****ing up routes needs to fall squarely on them. There's no doubt that Andy goes over this shit through camp, walkthroughs and weekly practices.

Watson and Rice may have ****ed up at times but for MVS and Skyy it's all the ****ing time. Every damn week they are doing shit wrong and making mistakes.

That's on the player at that point. Connor Embree isn't gonna teach MVS how to ****ing catch the ball or run the a route correctly. God that's embarrassing that MVS can't run routes with any level of efficiency. These are rookie level mistakes for a veteran

Are you certain we aren't? Because last season we spent the majority of our snaps in either 12P or 13P. i know I read an article about a month into this season that said we were still running nearly 40% of our snaps out of either 12/13P, but that our efficiency had dropped significantly from last season. I don't remember the exact figures anymore, but I'm pretty sure the link is posted in the early part of this thread.

But I haven't paid that much attention to the exact personnel groupings/formations over the last month, because I've missed a 2-3 games recently.

Bullshit. It's on the ****ing coaches for continuing to use them. Those two in particular ****ing suck. We ALL know that. And they STILL get the most work outside of Rice.

MVS/Skyy need to be cut, its for their own benefit. Displaying their talent (or lack of) on national TV games is hurting their earning potential.

That’s worse because he’s playing.

MVS is the same player he always was.

Toney is injured and not playing just like last year.

As for JuJu just take the L. Using what he does without Mahomes after his knees got worse doesn’t compute.

He was our number one WR and he wasn’t replaced with a similar player.

Rice is a better athlete but he isn’t being used the same way.

And last years group wasn’t good either. The goal should not be to try to tread water but to get better.
MVS was averaging 40 ypg last year, down to 22 this year. Only 5 plays greater than 20 yards, 13 last year. If he stepped up it would make a difference. Rice seems ready to put up JuJu type numbers and conversions now. Feeling good about that.

I was never a fan of Hardman as a WR because he couldn’t run routes.

But you throw a ball deep in front of him and he will run under it.

If he returns he needs to replace MVS and just run verts over and over.

If he gets a step fire it.
