This is incredibly simple guys. The Chiefs traded Tyreek and used that draft to build an incredible defense. Trade Chris Jones for draft picks and do the same while using the money you were gonna spend on him for a good bet WR.

The draft and fair FA deals like Juju, Tranquill, D. Smith and Omenihu is how you win on a QB contract.

The Patriots did that for years. It's the correct blueprint.
Im in. Was not until CJ showed it was all about him and missed the 1st game. Now I have no problem trading him and using those picks to better the.offense.

Why can't they keep moving Mahomes money back? Do you think he's going to fall off or retire at some point soon? He's going to get a brand new contract in the next couple years anyway.

They moved money forward to pay him more, I’d guess because the other qbs were making more and he felt he needed to be better compensated

You end up with 60plus million dollar cap hits. They won’t do that.

They aren’t trading Chris jones. It would require a tag, they’re not gonna anvil down 32 million dollars.

Those fair free agent deals look great when you are adding them to already here elite players.

The chiefs don’t need to trade away elite players. It’s not a good strategy.

Trading Tyreek worked out to win a sb last year. Long term it may end up not being the best idea

And now they gave him $50-$55mil cap hits without really creating any space.

I'm talking about a normal restructure where it creates real space in a particular year. For example like I said before, if they were going to add $40mil to his cap numbers the next 4 years, I don't get why we didn't get 40mil off our cap this year like in normal restructures.

And why couldn't they have restructured it normally, turned the money into a signing bonus, he gets paid and we get cap relief this year?

It wasn’t a normal restructure. It was basically adding money to keep him happy I’d guess.

I agree with you. There is skill in draft selection for sure, but it is still more luck than skill.

Look at his cap hits going forward

They’re already basically 60. Where do you spread it?

Paying Chris a long term $30 million APY contract so a terrible idea. You'll be pissed in a year or two when he's not living up to it or if they have to cut him and eat dead money in a few years.

Mahomes has earned the right to stay on top of the QB salary list, if that's what makes him happy.

Sort of wonder though that having that money go toward a FA WR might not have given him more pleasure in the long run...

What the **** are you talking about?

The trade Tyreek strategy was supposed to be all about the long term. The fact we won the SB so early on isn’t because it was a short term answer.

It's fine to pay Mahomes but there is zero reason to have a 60 million dollar cap hit next year when we have a prime 2-3 year window to win a SB now.

Paying him max now is poor strategy and cap mismanagement.
