Minimizes opportunities for guys who really should be getting more targets... Rice, Gray, etc.

Ran through KC-MIA again and I don't think separation was the issue for the Chiefs passing game. The Dolphins didn't play a lot of man, and Mahomes averaged 11 yards per attempt when they did. Receivers were finding open space downfield, the OL just couldn't hold up long enough.

He's still playing "good" football. But good aint gonna cut it.

I think the offensive coaching has actually been pretty bad so far this season. For some reason they've completely shied away from tools they've used to great effect in the past. Quite a bit less misdirection and pre snap movement compared to prior years, the passing game out of the backfield has been near nonexistent, and the situational play calling has been egregiously bad at points.

It’s good to see rice getting reps but we need him to be more effective as an outside option if we’re going to pump up the snaps. I would’ve much preferred we had a better outside option in the first place so we could’ve let him stay more in the slot lane early but I digress…. If we are to improve we need someone to go out and grab this. Either rashee accelerating his learning curve or Toney/James stepping up in a very big way. Until then it’s a gap. Skyy/Mvs/Watson are what they are.

But yeah ultimately I feel like Reid is trying to lean WRs more early to develop them as much as we can. But by crunch time he will more actively lean on creativity, trickery and probably heavier 12/13 packages to get the job done.

Watson was open on the left side and Mahommes was looking at him the whole time. We crap on the WRs but this year Mahommes is just less than what he's been in previous years. He's almost indecisive, like he's try to avoid turnovers. I never thought I'd see or say so but our man needs to be better.

Yes, I've been spoiled by near perfection the past few years.

They know the obvious: Toney is made of glass and they are load managing him like they did McKinnon.

First the hammy last year, then the knee on the first day of camp, then his toe a few weeks back.

But the guy at the top of the screen, instead of coming back towards the LOS to maintain a throwing lane, drifts towards the middle and into the coverage. Poor zone awareness.

By the time he came off that receiver, he might have had the underneath throw to the WR on the chip. And was that Gray that was maybe settling?

But really, he probably should've fired it as soon as the guy at the top of the screen started to settle down for his cut. The slot underneath him had drawn the help and there's a window there to get some yardage.

Mahomes can't hold that ball on 3rd and 20. He just can't. Throw it on time or throw it away because you KNOW they're coming and the only thing that can really make this a ballgame again is a turnover deep in your own end.

Mahomes gacked that play.

That's pretty much how I see it initially. Whoever that it at the top of the screen is open, at least technically, and Pat is looking right at him. The WR is drifting upfield and towards the center, which brings the other defender into play (maybe), so it's a concern, but no one else is really open. i mean, whoever that is in the middle, he's triple covered (probably Travis?), and whoever that is slightly underneath isn't really open either.

That leaves Gray at the bottom. And while he's 'open' at the 4sec mark, Pat's not even looking at him yet. Also, Gray is a solid 10+ yards short of the sticks when he turns around and makes himself a target @ the 6sec mark (With a defender over the top of him. Which basically makes him not a real target, right?

It looks like Thuney got held by the DT when he passed him off. It could explain why he was late and not in control when the DE looped around.
