Let's talk about the Miami Dolphins
Here is my $500,000 question on this game.

Will Spags and Co play it straight and keep their powder dry for the playoffs?

Last season the Chiefs defense (and maybe Andy, don't recall) kept things very vanilla when they went to Cincy.

They lost that battle, but won the war, because the defensive wrinkles Spags wanted to use against the Bengals were unveiled in the AFC Championship and held their offense at bay just enough for gimpy Mahomes to drag us over the finish line late.

Will Spags come into this game guns blazing and try to take out the Dolphins early this season? OR will he keep his cards hidden for the real season?

I consciously became a fan in the mid- late- '70s. 77 or 78 i think.


And you can go back and look at any of my posts concerning the Chiefs, during GDTs or whatever since i joined CP. I'm a pretty consistent homer. Been flamed for it multiple times.

But I'm not going to sugarcoat things that can't be sugarcoated.


And btw, why do you think I'm being miserable on this subject? I've said repeatedly that I think this is the best defense in Mahomes' career. I said that it could be before the season even started.

I even said they were probably a top-6 or -7 defense over a month ago, when all the metrics and talking heads were saying we were ranked 11th or whatever.


Are you really saying that just because I'm not all-in on the "2nd-ranked defense" thing in Week 8 that I must be miserable?


Seems like a pretty narrow-ass definition, bud.

I've given them lots of credit, since last season. apparently you weren't paying attention.


The only thing I'm not saying is that they are 100% without a doubt the 2nd best defense in the league.

Not yet anyway. I'd like to see them play a couple of actual top-5 offenses before I give them that title. And I think that's pretty fair.

They handily beat us by 10 or more pts. Our offense has no rhythm especially in the red zone with receivers who can't get open let alone catch, Pat is not playing well, let alone 100% healthy my guess, our defense will be on the field most of the game and without Bolton which gives Hill even more opportunity not to mention Hill being pumped up for this game as stated earlier by others . Throw in the fact this is played in Germany, time change(jet lag). Yes I know the Dolphins are dealing with this as well but I just see them in a much better situation than us. 2 World Class speedsters at the WR position as well as 2 World Class speedsters at RB. And McDaniel has copied Reid's playbook and taken it to the next level IMO.

Don't be surprised if this is a gradual blowout.

Historically, this is the type of game that we end up playing well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we won something like 31-24 and looked pretty good doing it. Like, it’s 31-17 and the Dolphins score a late garbage time TD to make it look closer than it was.

Obviously the loss last week has some people nervous, though.

Is Patrick Lavon Mahomes II playing this game with the flu? Will the Chiefs be -4 in turnovers?

If the answer to both questions is "No" I'll take the Chiefs in a statement win where they unveil some things they have not used before. If the answer to either is "Yes" the Dolphins have a shot.

The only way we beat the Dolphins is if they score less than 20 pts. The days of us routinely scoring 30+ are over. Rely on the defense and dont turn the ball over recipe to win.

Bolton being out helps Hill? As if Hill was going to be locked up by Bolton one on one the entire game?

And who are these world class speedsters at RB? Mostert is pretty quick but you do know that Achane is on the IR, right?
