They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

So if we know there is a more ideal rotation coming we can stop this narrative about how great our pass offense has been when we know we’re working through things

And yeah I know I’m not alone in believing just giving mahomes a target eater like juju will make a big difference. rashee looks best fit for that role. That is a big piece to “unlocking” the offense and we see a lot of it when he’s in the game.
You're the one that expected this to happen immediately. This whole damn thread has been about some telling you it was a decision for the future that should be judged at the end not the beginning.

We played 3 of the worst 7 pass defenses to start the season last year. What's the difference?

JuJu ****ing Smith was a decent WR here last year. He made a few good catches, had some good games. He also missed a **** load of time and hasn't been missed.

The passing offense hasn't been the dominant force it was a few years ago. It's been good, not great. No shit it has a few times where they haven't just mown teams down, they're young and have new faces. Again, this has been a you thing wanting them to sacrifice defense to put pieces around Mahomes.

You've ignored when people have told you, they did, it just wasn't what you wanted. Again, a you thing.

Meanwhile, they're putting out statistically a top 5 offense, a top 5 defense and rate as one of the better overall teams we've seen in the league in the past....**** I don't even know....decade?

Sure, we all want it to be what it was. Maybe it will be. But they did what they did and built this roster. Seems like it's gonna be fine.

You think they should be an all time great offense. Some of us don't.

Would it be fair to say that Rice has progressed faster/better than anyone could have hoped, but for the offense to really reach its full potential it would be good if either Moore or Toney step up as a reliable 3rd option in the passing game? Kelce is still Kelce, Rice has replaced Juju, if we could find one more consistent go to target from the remaining receivers (preferably one of the young guys) the offense has the potential to hit another gear.

Sure as long as your fellow WR cult members acknowledge that you've now moved the goalposts from "how can it be as good as last year when we don't even have a 2nd option like JuJu?" to now complaining about the 3rd option and essentially bitching because this offense isn't all-time great level.

Do you realize how absolutely ridiculous your expectations are? Do you understand how spoiled you've become?

I look at this discussion and think Green, Gonzalez, Priest and if adding Morton is enough with Kinnison to make our receivers great again. Having a great line and all.

Duhhh we have two Superbowl wins and this time around the defense isn't suspect.

Do I wish we could have kept Hill . . . of course but he gets to show his stuff by being successful somewhere else.

And the Chiefs too with a SB win.

What we get with this batch is something unknown for the league and something to work through.

I have seen improvement each week and we get to practice this week again before the mid-term exams are on, starting with European Field trip.

I’m not even doing that. I’ve accepted what we will become and I’m plenty satisfied with it. But you started it off by saying we haven’t had problems and there’s nothing to unlock. And no I don’t support that. We have had issues with the passing game and we all know the path forward that will “unlock” it. It’s already largely in motion. Im optimistic of it. You seem to think that our offense has been so great that the next step up is unstoppable. I think most reasonable people see that our pass offense has ability to improve a lot by end of year and that doesn’t mean we become unstoppable. It just means better.

And those challenges are not even close to the same as how we started out last year. Other than Indy our pass offense was fine. And sometimes tremendous including throttling great SF and TB defenses. Our offense was largely “unlocked” last year because of Pacheco. This year it will likely be “unlocked” with rice.

Without looking, our pass offense "throttled" SF and TB, How many rush yards did we have in those games?

The premise of this thread was accurately described in the OP. They have for the most part fixed the drop pass issue but as expected are a work in progress in the getting open phase. With Mecole back we will instantly improve with jet sweeps.

It is hard to tell though on the TV version of the game to see if they are actually not getting open alot, but there have been times WR's have been open and Mahomes either doesn't throw it or doesn't see it. He knows some of this on him as he mentioned MVS being wide open last Sunday and he took full blame on missing that.

The OL had it's best game of the season and Pat looked the calmest in the pocket he has all year and they had the best offensive output they have.

Coincidence?

Possible you will see McKinnon helping as a serious passing option in the later part of the season. They've been keeping him in bubble wrap so far, which is smart.

no, I was responding to o.city’s comment that this offense was never locked. the offense was locked. Most people acknowledge that the wr rotation was going to take time to sort out. Theres nothing controversial about this. The reason for optimism is because the wr strategy in the second half of the season is entirely different from the beginning of the year. And that will “unlock” the offense as was previously commented on.

So the offense was "locked" as a top 5 unit in the league. That's pretty good.

With Rice's snaps/targets getting ramped up, and the addition of Hardman - I'm very confident this thread is well on it's way to looking silly.

With that said, let me play Devil's Advocate to interrupt y'alls arguing:

Can we all agree that the passing offense *doesn't look right*?

Passes the stats test, but not the eye test?
