They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Here is 2022:

Hardman 219 pass snaps 33 targets 297 yards (fourth year in league, 1st round draft pick)
Moore 181 pass snaps 32 targets 250 yards (first year in league, 2nd round draft pick)

They were very similar when on the field last year in a receiving role. I love both of them, but neither one is really a game changer. And we will be fine with either one, because Mahomes.

Harman was injured last year. The year before he got almost 700. I will be impressed if Moore ever gets 700 yards in a season.

Maybe Moore will. I'm not a huge Hardman fan, but he's a far more proven commodity that can also be used on gadget plays and PR.

The comparison is based on snaps, so the point is, with comparable time on the field, they have comparable production as a receiver. Hardman is better on jet sweeps and as a returner, no argument there.

They were drafted at almost identical draft slots, Hardman at 56 (2nd) and Skyy 54 (2nd)

I'd venture to say one has produced more than the other

In space there aren't many players more dangerous than Hardman, he's proven that much. That's likely more than Skyy will ever achieve but he still has time to prove himself. His problem is he'll never be fast. He's the CEH of WR's, expect Clyde was actually good before injuries ruined him.

Skyy is actually less than Clyde.

I don’t think he’s the key to unlocking the offense. But it’s clear he unlocks things in our offense. Those “get to the edge” plays. Sideline routes where he can breakaway separate for deep balls. A sprinkle here and there of a catch where he has space to burst for a gain. It’s something where I’m still struggling to see skyys purpose other than being a system wr. And it seems he can do toneys role with better contribution than even him.

It’s likely a few targets a game. He’s not gonna be a target eater. But he plays a role and fills a hole

The key to unlocking the offense is that it was never locked.

It just wasn't the planet eating destroyer the 2018 one was and people are dumb.

I mean, I tried to hold my tongue but you’re being deliberately provocative. The offense is unlocking because rashee is progressing faster than a Reid WR does and it’s been great. We traded for mecole and a big part of that is not getting what we wanted out of Toney and/or skyy. And most of us have accepted that skyy has limitations - it is what it is.

That has nothing to do with being a 2018 explosive offense. We were getting stuck way more than we’re capable of and we know we’ve used a far from ideal wr rotation. I feel cp unanimously agrees that our ideal rotation is more and more rice, less skyy, keep easing in more of a role for hardman, and we need a hell of a lot more out of Toney. And Mvs plays a role but have to accept by now that he’s a boom bust guy. That’s optimism for where our rotation is going. But if we badly want that rotation that means accepting that the rotation we started with was far from “unlocked”

Yeah, they had some bad series. It's because they're a good offense, not an all time elite one. It happens. They probably end up an elite offense (as we have seen when the QB is playing well) but not an all time great one.

They also now have an elite defense to go along with it.

Well, Beach cutting bait on JuJu was clearly the right call.

86 yards and 6.1 yards per catch.

Fun fact: KT’s YPC is worse.

Yeah, he's been pretty honest. He didn't come right and say we are using these games as practice but that's the result.

They’ve been a good offense where the passing game, where we have our best players, have by and large been carried by an elite defense and running game. That isn’t ideal. At the bare minimum people feel we should be hitting the juju standard. That is not asking for too much. And we haven’t come close to that except that rice looks to be filling that role and then some. No - I don’t think the offense with skyy Mvs Toney is even close to “good enough.” Relegating those guys into roles while rashee takes on a bigger workload and adding a different kind of weapon to the role mix like mecole… that is the “good enough” that will unlock us.

He gets so open, it looks like broken coverage like ten times a damned game. He's unreal. So yeah, he's going to get a lot of targets.
I agree with you but I think his point was that somebody will need to step up to take more of the share of receptions. And that is true. Kelce is our #1 receiving option since Tyreek left. Hell, probably even before that. So, we will probably need somebody to step up into that role. I think it will happen and it doesn't have to be from the TE position, obviously.
