You don’t.
Do you know how stupid it is to sign a guy who produced better out of the slot last year than Berrios ever has and then trade for Berrios without giving that guy you signed a shot?

Can you or anyone else explain why trading for Berrios would be something a competent GM would do?

He’s not even in my top candidates for trade deadline.

I liked the idea of James but he had chances to be useful and they never used him.

Didn’t cost much so no big deal but maybe he’s too small for the slot role we use.

Or just IR Watson.

If the dude dislocated his elbow, he ain't gonna be back in 4 weeks. And James is on the IR already so he's not taking a roster spot.

There are exactly ZERO problems created by adding Hardman to this squad and some problems that are potentially addressed.

Who does nothing BUT return kicks. Hardman can do the same while also providing a possible asset in a passing game that looks a little anemic at the moment.

We do, but Hardman could easily do what he does, plus more in the passing game. The Chiefs found a role for Hardman that was good for both, which was basically how they're using Toney now. Put Hardman back in that role and it frees up Toney to be more involved in the down field passing game. At least that's how I see it.

It's possible that one of the causes of that anemic passing game is that there's too many chefs in the kitchen. Adding Hardman would just add to that problem. They need to get Rice involved earlier and play off of him. Then figure out the other 2 WRs that will play alongside him and the others can just come in for breathers. Trust Toney to do what you intended for him to do at the start of the year. If he breaks, he breaks. Play Ross more than 10% of the snaps. There's no way he can't contribute more than Moore or MVS.

If yesterday was an experimentation game, then the rotations they used make no sense. That was the time to see Rice as a starter and Ross at least get a third of the snaps. See what you have and then decide whether you need to make a move. It's not like Hardman was anything more than solid at any point of his career here. We really don't have anyone that can be "solid"? If not, then we need to make a bigger move than Hardman.

I mean, how many snaps are those gadget plays? How do they interfere with getting Toney out on down field plays?

Probably not, but I'm not gonna complain about it right now.
It wasn't just that, though. His blocking (which, I know, nobody cares about) was very good. His pulling defenders deep (yes, he ran deep routes) allowed Kelce to catch over the middle.

Admittedly I didn't get to see ALL of the plays from multiple angles, but in those I saw, he was good. His catch that he turned into a first down was good.

I'm not sure what folks are wanting, outside of him taking targets away from other receivers.

Exactly right, DJ... with those two out theres no reason to worry about cutting into Rice or Ross' snaps

HOT TAKE ALERT:

While our WRs certainly haven't been perfect and have room for growth, most have shown the potential to grow and improve. My hot take is that at least half the problem so far this season has been Reid not giving Rice and Ross enough playing time (and misusing Toney to a certain extent), and (gasp!) Patrick not quite playing to the high standards he's spoiled us into expecting. I have no doubt that all of these issues will be worked out between now and playoff time.

In other words...wbf

If Josh Allen had Diggs and Gabe Davis taken away it would be a disaster.

Here Mahomes has his 1 in Tyreek and the 2 in JuJu leave and we’re still getting by. It’s because our QB is the most talented QB to ever play.
