We lost a 1 point game to Detroit that was a total gong show. Otherwise, for all the offense's issues, we're sitting undefeated right now.

Denver D in the red zone play was tough.
This, it was more apparent in person and will be on the All-22.

How many times have we seen Chiefs fans shit their pants over a great defense and good offense (with a lesser QB than Mahomes)?

Now apparently that's not necessarily enough to be a SB contender.

These people have ****ing lost it.

Not my fault that you're trying to talk out of both sides of your mouth.
No you’re just being intentionally obtuse.

Rashee rice doesnt fix the deficiencies of the rest of the wr room. He helps mask them and that can be fine enough given our strengths in other areas. But it is something that ultimately needs to be addressed. And until it is we will be utilizing the hell out of kelce and leaning more on other areas of the team more than I’d like. But for this year, it’s probably plenty fine enough.

Oh I'm being obtuse? The ****ing irony.

You all offseason:

"The Chiefs need a WR1"

*the Chiefs draft a WR who looks like a possible WR1, and at the very least a very high end WR2, just 6 games into his career*

You: but it doesn't solve the problems of the rest of the room!

You are just moving the goalposts because you're absolutely obsessed with this subject/narrative, and you just want to keep arguing and being overly critical while pretending like you're happy with Rice.

"Something that ultimately needs to be addressed"

Do you see what the **** I'm talking about?

The implication here is pretty ****ing obvious. Rice doesn't actually address the issue, hence band-aid.

You're 100% talking out of both sides of your mouth. You aren't fooling anybody.

No, it is not the same thing. He doesn’t have trust issues with rice. Hell he seems at least somewhat comfortable tossing it up for Watson to go up and grab it. I don’t think mahomes has any trust in how his other WRs make subtle adjustments. We’ve seen his frustration when WRs make simple mistakes like not flattening their route. Even when he isn’t playing hero ball some of these WRs are very often on a different page and in most of those instances. Mahomes made the right read and the WR didn’t make the right adjustment.

And we’ve seen historically when mahomes doesn’t trust the offense to efficiently chunk out yards then he bails on the checkdowns too. Arguably that’s something he needs to just get over, but it still comes down to trust.

If these guys don’t consistently hit their spots then mahomes has way lower margin for error. He will be afraid to throw into tighter spots. And he will make sure the WR hits his spot instead of anticipating where his WR will move. We’ve seen between juju and rice that it doesn’t have to be about sheer athletic talent, he trusts guys who know where to go and how to get there.

Reasonable stance:

Rashee Rice has been fantastic and looks like a huge hit by Veach, but we need one more guy for the future. I'd draft another in the first 2 rounds.

Rice and Kelce with this defense is definitely enough to win a SB this year though.

I know that's similar to what you're trying to pretend you're saying, but you are not, hence "bandaid", "probably makes them SB contenders", and "something that ultimately needs to be addressed".

I think that's always been the stance, no?

I mean I presumed when we drafted Rice that we took him to be the X. The "Karlaftis at SDE" of the long-term redesign of our WR room. And next season is when we look for a more vertical speed threat.

This has just always appeared to be such an obvious long-term plan to me. Just the same as drafting Karlaftis signaled that we were going to look for a bendier, more explosive DE the following year.

Some folks just don't pay attention to the big picture at all.

For the majority, absolutely, but not zilla.

He reffered to Rice as a "bandaid" and said that he doesn't really address the underlying issue of our WR room.

Rice is going to take over Skyy at some point. Need to give Ross more snaps as well but Mahomes needs to start throwing to these guys instead of just focusing on Travis

If you aren't alarmed that we only managed to score 19 on a team the Miami Dolphins put up 70 on...who was the historically worst defense ever thru 6 games...how can you call yourself a real fan?

If your son or daughter had a drug problem but was still getting good grades would you just look away because things are going good? We should be excited as hell about our defense. But concerned as hell about our offense. We are here to win super bowls. Being the absolute best is the barometer
