They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Never said anything about him. He’s basically running on his last 20% of tread. But now that I think about it, he was arguably our best WR last season

JuJu had very good chemistry with Mahomes, which is kind of a priceless trait when you look at other receivers who can't seem to get on the same page with the QB. I wonder if Belichick might be willing to trade him back to KC.

Here's something we need to understand though. If you wanna go balls deep on weapons, spending and drafting, you probably aren't gonna be able to win games like you just did against the Jets.

Think back to 2018. If you get a bad Pat game, you're not gonna have the horses on defense to carry you at times.

There's a tradeoff for everything.

That one is one where I think he's not sure if MVS is settling into the zone. MVS clearly was and created a really nice throwing lane, but as Mahomes is pulling the ball down he's still seeing MVS decelerating and perhaps not sure if they're on the same page.

Turns out they were. Mahomes just hadn't convinced himself of that fact so he tucked it. I suspect he immediately regretted the decision to hit the triangle button and pull down the passing icons there.

EDIT: I also wonder if he didn't lose track of where he was on the field and wasn't sure if he'd gone past the LOS. Hard to say. Definitely a strange looking play and as noted, not one we usually see.

I think it’s psychological. When the receivers make mistakes he begins to press. He knows the best way to move the ball is in manageable chunks which means one WR error throws off everything. A blown first down means you now have to get 10 yards in 2 tries. In a weird way he is tentative downfield because he doesn’t want to waste a down if it doesn’t hit. That’s one piece of it.

The other is that while we can piece together a few instances of missing open guys we also have too many where nobody is open. Or at least his first 2 reads aren’t. When you don’t trust your guys to get open you stare down a read, you bail early, or sometimes you just throw up something dumb.

We need to clean up the mistakes and our offense needs to get guys off the field who aren’t getting open so we can maximize the drives where at least one guy is open. Then give mahomes a few games of stability with the same cast so we’re not changing it every 5 snaps.

The WR's are playing so poorly that not even Mahomes has been able to elevate their play to an acceptable level. But their suckage has negatively affected his play. That's a problem.
