The Athletic - Cornerback Trent McDuffie emerged as the Chiefs’ second-best defender

Didn't see this posted anywhere. If I missed it, my apologies.

Getting McDuffie from the Tyreek Hill trade is about as good of a result as you could ask for.

Every time I see something else about how amazing McDuffie is, I instantly see that clip of the Bills war room play in my head after we traded in front of them. The look on McDermott's face is pure gold. He looks like he wants to explode. The fact that the CB they reached for in desperation completely sucks just makes it that much better.

I love this goddamn team.

He's clearly been having a fantastic camp, he looks ready to take a big leap, and this is a guy who was already really ****ing good from day one.

I'm honestly still astonished we were able to get him, I was just absolutely sure before the draft that he would be gone before we even had a realistic chance at him. I thought He'd be gone early teens at the latest

I spent the majority of the time between picks 10-20 shitting myself at the thought of him falling into the Chargers or Bills lap.

I think McDuffie is a ****ing stud but I'm going with Nick Bolton as our #2 guy on defense.

We have a stud, legit, top-5 NFL player at all three levels: Jones on DL, Bolton at LB, and McDuffie as "shutdown corner".

So nice having a top defense again. If we can get the offense back to its previous lofty levels on a consistent basis, this is a juggernaut of a team.

It makes very little sense that he fell to us. Teams must have been reaching for positions of need or something. There's no way a guy at a premium position who has literally been a stud since his first practice should have slipped into the 20s. Such an amazing win.

Meanwhile in Buffalo.....LOL

Quote:
Elam, whom the Bills traded up to land with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, was a healthy scratch in Week 1, during which Buffalo suffered a demoralizing 22-16 loss to the New York Jets in Week 1. While some head coaches make adjustments after such a defeat, head coach Sean McDermott rolled with the same lineup in Week 2, and Elam remained on the bench.

Unless one of the starting cornerbacks gets injured, it appears Elam’s inactive role will remain permanent.
