That is exactly the sugarcoating I’m talking about. We still have major gaps beyond drops. We can accept that it will take time to find a primary target, but how can anyone dispute that we need a consistent producer? Right now we have two guys taking 40-45 snaps with 2-3 targets per game. We seem very uncomfortable with even the intermediate part of the passing game.

It’s not a high bar but we haven’t found jujus backfill yet. And that’s where it feels most of the pieces fall more into place. A lot of us feel that rashee can at least meet the juju standard early on. But we haven’t yet. We will likely be fine in the meantime if we clean things up and we play defense at this high level. But until then our offense will be making it work vs all the pieces magically falling into place. That can’t occur with one of the central pieces missing.

So you essentially want a primary target taking up all the targets, which you said you didn't want, but you're saying is what they need.

If you want a QB on a rookie deal, what else WOULD you want to spend your cap space on? That roster doesn't have another player worth throwing big money at, especially if/when you move on from Cousins.

I don't think they'd get much for him, but they'd clear some cap space that could roll over until Jefferson's deal next season. They'd maybe get a 2nd day pick and they'd 'secure' their draft position to move for a new guy.

Cousins to the Jets is actually the perfect trade.

You're 0-2, and you've proven time and time again that you need an upgrade at QB to get over the jump. It's the perfect time to talk, especially when you consider the QB class coming up.

The Jets actually have the kind of defense that could maybe get you there with a Cousins at QB.

Makes too much sense.

Kelce is the primary, but I'm reading Zilla as saying we need a go-to in specific situations (3rd down?) that Patrick trusts and we can reply on as a chain mover.

We can shit on JJSS's total yardage, but dude was someone 15 relied on to move the chains if his BFF wasn't open.

Should've been done between Thursday and Sunday.

Once the Vikings went to 0-2 on the back of yet another dick-stepping contest, it was time to consider making the move. Gets Cousins in there for a couple days of seeing a gameplan go in and puts him ahead enough of the game to be able to step in and start in week 3.

And he's on an expiring deal so there's no long-term liability for the Jets. Meanwhile IF Rodgers decides to retire, they have Cousins as a possible fall-back who's gotten more familiar with the organization and might be excited to stick around.

Yeah, the deal should be done. But as you said - it makes too much sense to happen.

Correct. We’re talking more safety valve than a guy you force targets to. And judging by kelce getting popped mid air by 3 guys we can’t put that all on him.

Juju had games with 4-5 targets. We also had half of the games with 8-11 targets. Do we see any of our WRs as that 8-10 target guy when needed? I don’t see it until we get rice going.

And they can get a trade up made without giving up Justin Jefferson.

Somehow they have to ditch Cousins and go get someone a little better. Someone that gets the Xs and Os as well as Kirk, but is more willing to pull the trigger when needed. Do that, keep improving the defense, and they become a real threat in the NFC.

Cousins isn't bad. he's actually quite good.

The right team (and yeah, the Jets may be that team) could do some REAL damage with him.

That Vikings team won't win anything with Cousins at this point because they're too far away. They'll get some empty calorie wins but they're not a real threat to win anything meaningful.

Cousins takes more blame than he should for Minnesota disappointing over the years. He's not been their problem - but he gets blame for the problems they have.

But they're going to struggle to rebuild a defense around an aging quarterback while also having to pay a really expensive WR. The best path forward for them is dealing Cousins.

Not every team is looking to win a SB. Minnesota comes off as an organization happy to be good enough.

C'mon Jets - please give this a try? Your defense is awesome and you have enough weapons to do some real damage with a guy like Cousins.

I wanna see you guys take some air out of Buffalo and that douchepickle Mike McDaniel.
