I don’t expect it to be a well oiled machine immediately. It’s why I pushed for a bandaid wr. It’s why I’ve been pushing for rice/Ross even if it means some bumps early on. But our inexperience doesn’t change that kelce plays a giant role and in a twisted way I’m glad we saw it.

You and I are both good with the current experiment even if I’d like to be even more aggressive. I didn’t like the pre draft mentality that we just need quality depth kelce and mahomes can elevate. That’s how we wait and wait for guys like skyy to fall to us. I’ve warmed up to our wr approach once we went all in on rashee/Ross. And you have to admit you’re warming up to what a wr1 talent can do now that you’re seeing even flashes of what that can do to elevate our offense.

Good. So let’s keep on the gas. We saw the bar we need to raise if kelce ever regresses. and it’s going to require a legit wr1 and quality depth.

paying a top level WR is a LOT of money, and not money wisely spent if your goal is to draft and develop a young WR corps you can have cost controlled for multiple seasons.

A band-aid? Ritchie James is a band-aid. He caught 57 balls and was a first down machine with Danny Dimes. That's your insurance policy. 'In case Skyy Moore just doesn't have it, break glass'.

I think what the Chiefs have done is VERY aggressive. They went all in. They took three big swings and bought a lottery ticket in a twelve month time span.

If James is the best receiver at the end of the season, you can complain. Not if he has the best aggregate numbers- if he's the guy you want to feed in the play-offs, then you win, you were right, and I'll be complaining, too.

Yep. You do. You made it over 48 hours, even. LOL

All-22 is actually pretty encouraging, and I feel better knowing that my personal favorite Ross was getting loose. Rice shows promise. Toney's either going to implode right now and flame out, or we'll never see a game like that again.

It's nothing to panic about. They just need game reps to get comfortable, and unfortunately, that's just the way it has to work. You can't simulate live game experience in practice, not entirely.

It's going to be fine. The WR's aren't going to drop 6 balls and hand over pick sixes every week, the OT's held up better than Mahomes appeared to expect, Kelce will come back, and there were open receivers downfield that he missed and he'll see that on tape and be looking for them.

It's going to be okay.
Aaron Rodgers was a back to back MVP but suddenly was very uncomfortable without Devante Adams when Adams moved to the Raiders. Hopefully Kelce can stay healthy for the stretch run of this season.

You’re talking about depth swings. Ritchie and Watson are guys who round out your roster. They are guys who play off of guys like kelce. Skyy was a role player pick after everyone was scooped up. We’ve done plenty of that work over the years. Those moves are useful in their own right. What’s been missing is a swing at a guy like rashee who you think can be a legit wr1. Use value on guys like James and watson, sure. But our big swings (in our case, our best draft picks) shouldn’t be pumped into role players. rashee is the type of guy we should keep going after.

In a chaotic game like Thursday mahomes didn’t need that safe option. He could have used a reliable primary option. A guy who can win consistently and you know will hit his spot. No it doesn’t have to be tee Higgins for $30m on a LT deal but DHop at 1 year $13m… are we really saying that’s breaking the bank? Because I think the chiefs banked on that being Toney and that’s looking like a dicey bet. So instead we gotta push rashee faster maybe than we’d like.

Well, unfortunately Veach hasn't found one in 6 years and with his current track record it might be time to go the free agent route. Even the guys we have in the building right now have pretty well defined ceilings. Toney is the only one with true superstar upside and he's just not reliable enough either physically or mentally to put all the chips in on.

So...you feel like we should keep drafting guys like Rice? I agree.

I'm still just honestly shocked at the amount and intensity of the panic right now, have we learned nothing after all these years?

Call me a dipshit homer or whatever, but recent history strongly suggests we WILL get things ironed out... if Skyy Moore busts, we've got plenty of other guys capable of stepping up

This organization is at the point where the weight of expectations almost guarantees someone steps up and stands out

It's kind of crazy.

I guess it's just that we haven't lost the first game since Mahomes, so everyone has lost all perspective.
