Something else that's worth considering.

Don't hate on me here, I'm just theorizing. Instead of doing what some of you always do and call me an idiot, dispute the point I'm making, please.

One thing that was absolutely nuts, watching this game, was something I'm not sure I've ever seen before, on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs, on a down-to-down basis, completely changed up their DL and their weapons on offense. Again, on nearly a down-to-down basis.

They'd have Karlaftis-Nnadi-Dickerson-Herring on one down (which, oh my god) and then the next down they'd have Danna and Wharton subbing in, before bringing in FAU and sometimes even Chenal at DE as a rushbacker.

On offense, there was all kinds of bizarre weapons packages. One down they go three TEs with Justyn Ross off to the side. They have MVS/Toney/Moore on a down only to yank 2/3 of them off so Watson/Rice can come in.

I'm just kind of used to a team that plays a true 1st string and a true 2nd string when the 1st stringers need a blow. Instead, it was a personnel free-for-all.

I get it, the Chiefs are down a few guys. So, logically, you put in your best remaining players and occasionally spell then, rather than just keep a lazy susan of your entire depth chart going. I haven't been able to find the snapcounts, but if Matt Dickerson lead our DTs in snaps, I wouldn't be surprised. There's no way he's our best, or even second best DT.

The defense played well, and the offense had enough in them to win the game yesterday. They just couldn't hold onto the ball.

But it did have a feeling of throwing-shit-against-the-wall in the gameplanning.

I didn't really have a problem with Reid's gameplan outside the absolute failure of the Blake Bell formation.

He got guys open.

We appear to have a lot of explosion back in the offense that was missing last year. They just need to catch the ball.

The running game is going to need some work, and I wonder if we miss EB there.

I'm glad you brought this up - I didn't notice it on Defense but definitely saw it on Offense - was rather strange - the only exception was McKinnon not really getting a chance to do anything - I think he only had a handful of snaps.

Agree.

I think the short FG on 4th and short should have been a go for it, the Blake Bell play sucked shit. And someone should have gotten Toney out of there. Dude was shell shocked. Other than that, I thought Reid called a good game.

But hot take: Reid outcoached Campbell.

Gray = has never really needed to be our TE1

That explains a lot of discombobulation on offense.

The OL was great in pass pro. I won’t judge the run game when CEH has that many carries.

A lot to feel good about, because drops lost us the game. Simple as. That can be corrected.
And Rice seemed like the best WR last night - super strange.

What’s to dispute? It was especially noticeable on offense with the receivers. Just complete randomness. And it showed with Mahomes’ play. I’m quite certain there were guys open at times he just missed, largely because they had no rhythm and barely knew who was out there.

That game to me was about body language. No fire on the offense at all. Every time they showed Andy, he just had a dead look in his eyes. I dunno, it just didn't FEEL like a Chiefs regular season game.

Mahomes was visibly frustrated all night. When he had to make plays with his feet, I get the feeling he was seeing guys not getting open and was like "Goddamit, I guess I'll have to do this shit myself."

He actually had a great night, he was off a couple of times, but I think that owes to the fact that he didn't trust any of those ****ers to get the job done.

I’m sure Detroit fans are excited, and rightfully so.

However if any Detroit fans watched that and believes the Lions are on the same level as the Chiefs, then they’re delusional.

There is a sizable gap between the two. Chiefs win by 10+ by just making the easy catches.

Chiefs win by 20 when they make the easy catches and add 2 top 10 NFL players.

YES! I agree Andy did not look like he was "present" and Pat was super irritated. This is why I think things get smoothed out this week - no way in hell is a pissed Pat going to let things slide during the week
