The fate of Chris Jones 2023 edition

Appears the Chiefs and Chris Jones are at the beginning of a contract dispute

Speculation has been that the two sides are "far apart" on a deal

So Chiefs Planet.... how do we think this will play out (poll coming)

Will the Chiefs pay up and meet Chris Jones demands? If so, how much will it end up costing?

Will the Chiefs not be able to meet Chris Jones demands and end up trading him? If so, what kind of haul can we expect?

I've really loved watching Chris Jones wreck shit for the Chiefs, it always sucks when the business side of the NFL forces teams into tough decisions.

When he bitches up, and bails on his team for half the season and we are completely fine afterward, every last bit of ANY negotiating power this turd had gets flushed down the shitter right along with his massive contract hopes.

As long as 15 is upright and breathing, we can beat any team, regardless of whether or not Jones is being a bleeding ****.
It's going to hurt both the team & player if it plays out like that. IDK where the pass rush comes from - I'm skeptical about both young DEs. And of course Jones will never make up the $ & it will torch his legacy here at the very least in the short term. I think it takes the 1 seed off the table for the Chiefs & guarantees they're playing the wild card round.

Man I'd love to know what he's asked for. If the sticking point really is the 4th year I think I'd give it to him. Jones is effectively worth 2 very good DTs imo. But honestly what an idiot, and man his agent sucks.
Go watch some video interviews of him with his dad…….not saying all ex-prison guys are like him but I’m starting to wonder if being so close to his dad is a big reason this is happening.

Gotta remember while he is a huge freak of nature Jones is still only 29 years old. Wish Veach could be negotiating with 39 or 49 year old Chris.

If he's dumb enough to sit out until week 8, which I can't imagine him doing, then deactivate him for the remainder of the season. See what that does for his market value next year.

I’d prefer a tag and trade next off season before the draft. If Chris wants to be dumb that’s fine, but at least let’s get a 1st round pick out of him on his way out. If he missed the entire season I’m not sure how drastically that would effect his trade value.

He's tainted meat anyway. Only a desperate team would take on his shenanigans AND salary.

They aren't getting a 1st round pick for a 30+ year old DT who wants $30MM a year. That's a pipe dream.

Probably a 2nd.
