The fate of Chris Jones 2023 edition

Appears the Chiefs and Chris Jones are at the beginning of a contract dispute

Speculation has been that the two sides are "far apart" on a deal

So Chiefs Planet.... how do we think this will play out (poll coming)

Will the Chiefs pay up and meet Chris Jones demands? If so, how much will it end up costing?

Will the Chiefs not be able to meet Chris Jones demands and end up trading him? If so, what kind of haul can we expect?

I've really loved watching Chris Jones wreck shit for the Chiefs, it always sucks when the business side of the NFL forces teams into tough decisions.

Not trying to bring them up but damn man. I don't see how the Eagle don't go back to the SB unles they just crater due to injuries. The MFC is so damn weak.

The 49ers are up there with them in talent but I don't think Brock Purdy is winning that game

The Eagles overachieved. Time will prove it.

Hurts' SB stats are great on paper, but I don't see an all-time great SB performance when I watch that game. He completed an unusually high number of 50/50 jump balls ala Deshaun Watson in Houston, and did a great job of being pushed in the back by his teammates in short yardage situations.

The Eagles had an easy schedule, but they're really talented and the NFC is the Cowboys, the 9ers and a barrel of meh.

He may have.

He's refusing to play for another team, not showing up to camp, wants more money than the team is willing to pay, and the team's starting three-tech right now is Daniel Wise.

Tell me where the win in this situation is.

I suppose he's never been convicted of strangling a pregnant woman. So he has that going for him.

It's kinda confusing to me how everyone thinks the Chiefs just have all the leverage here.

Watch out for the Seahawks. They have done a very good job of bolstering that roster the last 2 offseasons.

Feels like Geno Smith could be even better this year with more weapons at his disposal and the defense is even better.

I do kinda like the Seahawks as a sleeper. I think they've built a real nice situation but we will see with Geno.

Or Geno turns back into pre-2022 Geno.

They have exactly one piece of leverage, but it's mutually assured destruction.

Jones can sit out and lose nearly $30m this season. That's the only arrow in the Chiefs' quiver, but it devastates both sides for it to happen.

It's probably not enough to get Jones extended, he really does have us over a barrel.

It's probably enough to get him to play for this season, however.

If the Chiefs are smart, they tag him and trade him, Hill-style, afterwards. Because I can't see how they extend him.

I'd like to see Veach attack the DL next year. (But the top priority will probably be the LT position, unless Donovan Smith really is about to truly rebound.)

Mahomes was also going against a better defense.

Not really, Jones signs an extension he gets a bunch of guaranteed money - $65 to $75 million most likely. It's crazy to take a chance on losing that to an injury by playing one more year for wanting a slightly better contract than the Chiefs are offering. Again, Jones will report this week, and probably after signing an extension.
