Attending my first Chiefs game

It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally planning to make the big trip to visit Kansas City from Australia to see my Chiefs play. With this thread I'm mainly keen to suss out the seating situation at Arrowhead, but any general advice or useful information to know when visiting Kansas City would be great to hear.

I've been in touch with a ticket rep, so generally know how the ticket buying process works and I'm ready to grab a couple of home game tickets shortly after the schedule is released this week. I plan on going to the home opener, so I have my fingers crossed that there will be at least two home games in the first three weeks of the season. A couple of basic questions I have:
  • Where are the best seats at Arrowhead? Either midfield or an endzone might be the obvious choices, but if anyone can provide specific advice on this that would be great. i.e. best value seats for the price, best view of the field/team, etc. I'm aware the ticket prices are high at the moment but it is what it is.
  • Is there anything to do at Arrowhead during the week when games aren't being played and during away games? I.e. tours of the stadium, Chiefs related events, etc.
And about the City:
  • What are the must do's and must see's in Kansas City? Chiefs related or otherwise.

Aside from Chiefs home games, I'm hoping to catch at least one Mizzou and/or K-State game, as well as a Royals game and Sporting Kansas City match (depresso I know, but when in Rome right). A trip to the Pro Football HOF would also be on the list if at all possible. I'll probably bump this thread a few times over the coming months with more questions, but decided to get the ball rolling by hearing what the upstanding Kansas Citians of the Planet have to say first!

Cheers

Hopefully that deposit I paid gets me access at the same time as locals, but sounds like probably not since the ticket rep said 11am CST for me. Apparently lower deck tickets around the 50 won't sell out tomorrow though, which would be good.

Good to know. From the photos I've seen it does seem that way.

Kivett & Myers Architechs designed the Truman Sports Complex which by the way designed the old KCI the first multi-satellite airport for easy in and out travel. Was intended to be 6 satellite structures and be a hub for supersonic air travel. TWA and Pan Am were supposed to anchor the KC Hub and would be the first to take orders on the SST. But Yimmy Carter and the oil crisis derailed the SST and ended KC chance as a major hub. MCI was cut back to 3 satellites with a possible 4th that never happened. Also led to the downfall of TWA and Pan Am who sunk a lot of money into it and never recovered.

Now we got the new airport lurkers paradise for people who very rarely set foot in KC. Thanks, Mayor Q!

Prices on reseller sites will probably be similar to what people are reselling them for on Ticketmaster. Main difference is what each might charge on top of what the seller is asking for. I know Ticketmaster charges the seller 10% of asking price and the buyer 10% of asking price PLUS fees. Seatgeek or Ticketsforless are probably your best best for resale sites.

Chiefs sell on Ticketmaster. If you see a seat marked blue, that's the Chiefs price. Red seats are resellers.

Yup in the first case I'm aiming to grab tickets via Ticketmaster sold by the team. Fingers crossed.

Right now the reseller tickets (which I assume are season ticket holders offering up tickets prior to general sale) prices are looking wild, can I expect the general ticket prices to be less when sold by the team?

IMO, these days it's better to just use TicketMaster and cuss at all the fees... Stubhub used to be great, but they're up in the 20-25% fee range just like TM now, and last time I used it (not for the Chiefs), I didn't even get the tickets and the event sold out by the time I got them refunded.

TicketsForLess is one exception, as luv mentioned... I've personally never seen decent deals on there besides nosebleeds, but some people like them.

And yeah, tickets sold by the team will be less, but still pretty expensive for lower level... obviously the Mahomes factor, but even before then they were trying to meet scalper prices it seemed.

Noted.

Do these prices look accurate to you? Sent to me by the ticket rep re: last year's prices.

Two places I'd recommend would be the Negro League Museum and the American Jazz Museum. They are co-located and you used to buy a ticket that would let you into both.

https://www.nlbm.com/
https://www.americanjazzmuseum.org/

Just 3 blocks east and around the corner is Arthur Bryant's BBQ. Some here on the board will poo-poo it, but it's REAL KC BBQ, not like "some places" that feel like they have to tout their side dishes because they're too lazy to properly smoke the meat. And white tablecloths? Bitch, please. I will admit it isn't as good as when Mr. Arthur was alive, but the sauce is the real deal. If it's good enough to serve just about every American President (1 notable exception) since Truman, it's good enough for you.

Oh! If you need a spot to tailgate for the home opener, you're welcome to crash ours. We're in the grass median on the outskirts of Lot F (nearest lot marker is F24). I'll see if I can't make up some sort of CP marker to stick in the ground (or decorate a cone we have). We're not an official CP tailgate spot, but people will usually at least drop by for a minute to say hello. Don't worry about bringing anything. Hearing you talk will probably be payment enough.
