Do we want DeHop?
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...9536dcd3&ei=21
Story by Andrew Gould The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins. NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first. After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason. Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June. Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy. Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season. Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do we want a high priced prima donna? |

But Veach/Andy don't stand still. They're always hunting around for talent. I just think that this season they're going to be more serious about it. They aren't going to try another prove-it deal with the likes of Kelvin Benjamin, L. Bell, Josh Gordon, etc. The cupboard's too bare for that. Whoever they sign, it'll be a guy they know will produce pretty much from Day 1.

Simms talked about how many times he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Something like, "This is the Kansas City Chiefs. I can't believe what i'm seeing here. You're gonna walk your safeties up that close to the line?" He said that a few times last season....

Last season it seemed like it took DCs a few weeks to figure out that they could just man up JuJu, and before Toney showed up, when they did that, the offense often stalled quickly. But by Week 8-9 or whatever, DCs started consistently taking JuJu away.

I think it means that they're okay with where it stands before the draft (although I wouldn't be). I'm sure they'll be using a high pick on WR if they don't sign one. Maybe even trade up in the first.

Mecole in his PC said he didn't think the Chiefs even offered him a contract. I am pretty convinced now we are going all in on rookie WR's like we did with the DB's last season. You get 4-5 years of low cost control.

My question is what exactly does that give you control over? How much production can we count on from a couple rookie WRs? Can we look at past history of Chiefs drafted WRs and extrapolate? How many yards, 1st downs, and TDs can we expect from these rookies? North of 1,000 yards, 30-40 1st downs and 10 TDs? How about situational football IQ? How many will be installed into the 4-minute or 2-minute offense by mid-season? Hurry-up? You know, situations where they would have to be on the field 8-12 snaps in a row, maybe no-huddle, be 100% on audibles, etc.? Or, will those rooks spend most of their time hanging around on the sideline, catch 20-30 passes for the year? i mean, I know you don't know any better than I do so I'm not trying to be a dick here, but historically which is more likely?
