Do we want DeHop?
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...9536dcd3&ei=21
Story by Andrew Gould The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins. NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first. After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason. Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June. Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy. Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season. Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do we want a high priced prima donna? |

0% chance? There’s literally nothing to suggest that they have no shot. The two guys they’ve been linked to haven’t gone anywhere yet. Zero interest? So the chiefs wasted their time attending these workouts for obj. Because Daniel Jeremiah said DHop is linked to buffalo but Albert breer saying kc is linked to DHop is not credible. There is nothing to suggest either guy is in or out of play. There is a ton of smoke that the chiefs are at least taking an active interest and little to suggest they are not. Just because you don’t agree with it doesn’t mean you can read the signals your way and give an absolute response. Nobody really knows except it seems clear the chiefs are genuinely sniffing around |

That's not even what DJ does. He's a draft guy. He doesn't report stuff like that or break news. It's the FA/trade equivalent of a mock draft. |

It's called due diligence. Maybe it's not a zero percent chance, but it's highly unlikely. And you guys are arguing with me like if you can just convince me, it'll happen. I'm not Brett Veach. I'm not Andy Reid. If it somehow came to pass, I'll cheer for them just like I would anyways, but it's not bloody likely, and grows less so every day. |

Travis is the only guy on the team that reliably can beat man or zone. JuJu could beat zone pretty well, not press man. Toney can beat press man, but he's still a little raw beating zone. Skyy knows how to run routes vs. man, has a hard time against press, and doesn't know how to beat zone. All MVS does is stretch the field, which is necessary, but doesn't help with the rest of the WR room. We either need another JuJu that can reliably beat zone, in spite of the fact that we let him go to NE when we easily could've afforded his contract. So, we need a WR that can do it all, which would be preferable. I don't know which WRs we have a legit shot at in the draft, or how many of those can do what we need. And then we have the history of drafted WRs in KC, which isn't great. Most don't really get comfortable in Andy's offense in their first season, that's simply fact. So, either we're signing a FA to replace JuJu's production/abilities, or we're going a different route in FA. Bearing in mind that the best option to replace JuJu was probably Thielen and he's gone. There was another one, don't remember his name, but he's gone as well. Then we passed on retaining Hardman, and we could've afforded him, if we wanted to go the cheap route for a second year in a row. Then we factor in that Veach has been looking at premium WRs for several years now, he just hasn't signed one yet. Dez Bryant came in for a workout and caught passes from Pat. Veach spoke to OBJ just last season, apparently more than once. I know there was at least one other WR he was interested in between the two, but his name escapes me right now. So saying that we're not in the market isn't accurate. We have been in the market nearly every year of Mahomes' career. We just haven't pulled the trigger on one. And if we're in the market, then Veach must be able to afford him, whoever it is. I still have doubts it'll be either OBJ or DHop, but not for the money. Or the compensation. Veach can find the money, and the draft picks aren't as valuable as some people think. Bottom line, we aren't going into the 2023 season with just MVS, Toney and Skyy as our top 3 WRs. It doesn't even fit Andy's history. He likes having a vet in the room. So, we're getting a veteran WR at some point before OTAs. Probably right around the draft. It'll be interesting to finally see who he is.

Of course they're going to do something, it's just not going to be paying some over 30 WR a bunch of money. It's probably not going to be something that you all are totally comfortable with. But we don't watch every practice, we don't sit in on every meeting. These guys know what they're doing. |

Beep Vartch wouldn't be letting all these guys go if he didn't have something up his sleeve. The suspense is killing me.
