The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins.

NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first.

After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason.

Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June.

Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy.

Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season.

Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses.

MVS is inconsistent. Toney hasn't proven he can be counted on for an entire season and Moore is a complete unknown. Right now...that's all they ****ing have.

They will if they don't add somebody like Hopkins or OBJ.

Seems like Addison is more likely to make it to 31 every passing day.

At worst, you're looking at a guy like Corey Davis and a 2nd round pick like Marvin Mims or Tyler Scott.

He's not just questioning it. He's making assumptions that they are prepared to do absolutely nothing at the position. He's bringing up 0 TDs to a WR season as if that's what we're looking at. How is that not irrational?

I don't think looking at our $9M in cap space and looking at what OBJ wants, and what Hopkins GETS and may want, and what we've offered in the past and drawing the conclusion that the $$$ may not work is being irrational.

They'll add more young talent, not in disagreement on that.

Will it be a 1st round WR? Meh, idk about that. I don't even care all that much tbh because i honestly don't think there's enough separation between the 1st round guys and the 2nd round guys.

Hey, if the NFL wants to get worked up about his testing, by all means...

I like JSN a little more, and also think he can be ready to start day 1, but he's obviously not making it to 31.

I never said, not once, that they'll do "nothing". Simple math suggests they have to do SOMETHING.

I'm leaning into the idea that they really do think Toney/Moore are the solution here, and the guys they add will be depth behind them.

I bring up the 0 TD WR season because it's an example of how Reid has settled for crumbs at the position before.

You're ignoring that they can create more space, and restructure with Hopkins.

Clearly nobody else is offering OBJ what he wants either. It's the market this year. It's not like everybody else is throwing 15 mil at OBJ while the Chiefs are lowballing him by 10 mil.

Do I want that? No. Of course not.

Im very much a, "give him every weapon you can" guy. I'm just not sure the Chiefs feel the same way, or they may feel that Moore/Toney ARE the weapons he needs.
