The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins.

NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first.

After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason.

Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June.

Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy.

Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season.

Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses.

Yeah, I’m not sure what to think. I usually lean to where there’s smoke there’s fire. But this is a really unusual situation where he first had to deal with Easterby lecturing him on morality. Then Kyler Murray who is notorious by now for being an absolute shit team player. Even still his behavior has been at worst “frustrated”.

I don’t understand where this malcontent stuff came from. I get being cautious of his injury history and not wanting to give up draft picks. But we are talking aboit one team where his religious cult leader literally humiliated the dude over baby mama comments. Then a second scenario working with a team where the qb was literally accused of playing video games during a playoff game and being totally disengaged since he signed a big contract.

We’re not talking about obj who worked with Tom coughing and mcvay. It’s possible DHop is a degenerate but he has a good excuse to be.

Obj was on bad behavior with Tom coughlin and Eli manning. And even still has been stringing Sean mcvay along with petty contract disputes

DHop has been on “frustrated” behavior with Easterby and Kyler. Let’s not pretend these are remotely the same things

He can be very arrogant. That much is true. But, I mean, I probably would be too if I could do half of what he can on a football field. But I've never heard one of his teammates talk shit about him, or a coach, for that matter.

Abso****inglutely.

Take that not-TD by Toney in the SB. DHop could teach Toney how to create separation at the last second before the ball arrives. That subtle usage of the DBs chest/shoulder that allows him to get his upper body just another foot or so out front so he can make that grab. Give Toney just that skill, and he becomes a superstar. How to attack a DB at the release, use the DBs leverage against him, and about a dozen other things that DHop is a magician at, that I'm not even aware of because my knowledge about WRs is pretty fundamental, and that guy is somewhere around Jerry Rice level.
