The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins.

NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first.

After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason.

Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June.

Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy.

Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season.

Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses.

Yeah the passes you're talking about are more of go routes or sluggos that Mahomes and Toney/Juju adjusted to a back shoulder throw based on the coverages.

Right.

You'd assume Mahomes would attempt more of those with a receiver he thinks will read the coverage the same and adjust (and be physically capable of winning it). Aka, a receiver like Hopkins.

I think Burrow is in the same scenario, I'd pay him and wouldn't worry to much. He's had alot of weapons and takes sacks and such, but dude just has the mentality you want and is a pure pocket guy.

Literally any of the other guys......I'd have some reserve. Hell, take Herbert for example. He hasn't really won, which isn't necessarily on the QB, but when we're getting into this type of contract....shit if I'm having to make any kind of excuses for the guy....doesn't that bring up some hesitation?

Josh Allen's ceiling is so high you probably are ok there, but the guy tends to struggle from time to time throwing the football. For a QB, that's a problem.

At the very least Herbert has the arm talent to justify it. The Daniel Jones of the world are the ones that will kill you.

Amari Cooper went for a 5th round pick last year. I'd offer no more than a 4th for him. Being the original asking price was a second, I don't see it happening.

Not only that, DHop on the roster takes somebody's spot. With ten selections upcoming in this and Veach's success over the last two seasons, I'm leaning towards no.

There's currently only 3 receivers on the roster right now that were here last year.

The Chiefs have 3 guys to add in the receiving room. I mean, that's just basic math. And don't try to tell me the solutions are Justyn/John Ross.

Regardless of how you feel about this guy or that, 3 dudes will be joining this team via a combination of F/A and the draft.

It's simply a matter of who. For the most part, we have the list of names unless Veach pulls off a ninja trade we didn't see coming.

I won't be surprised if Veach doesn't use all ten picks in the draft. He might use a couple to move up or something.

But I don't see him trading our third either, because I think he'll want to use it to fill a hole on one of the Lines.

Which means a 4th, and I doubt ARI will be interested in the 128th pick or whatever.

Yeah, i heard that too. At the time, I just assumed he was ready to win, hadn't heard him say it.

But when you try to get in his head, it just seemed like the logical next step. he's done his bit getting paid to nursemaid young or raw QBs, and he's gotten paid for it.

But at 30, with nothing to show for the last ten years other than the individual accomplishments, knowing he's only got a handful of years left before his body just starts to give out, now's the time to get with a real QB and a real contender and win a Ring.
