So when do people stop going out to eat?

I have a customer who owns 5 Mexican Food Cafes here in the Phoenix area. The past few years we've reprinted their menus 6 times...always to accommodate higher prices. Their typical cost now is about $18.00 per entree...Mexican food.

On a personal note I stopped by a McDonald's today and paid $4.96 for a large order of fries. There's got to be a breaking point for most folks.

Still trying to remember when tips when from about 7% to 20%. Really? I need to pay you $20 for bringing me food and keeping my drink filled? Unfortunately, it will be like the airlines and their added fees; even when the price goes down, nothing will change because we have gotten 'used' to it.

I have always used the divide by 7 rule, and have not changed. As the price goes up the tip goes up. Unless it's horrendous service, or really good, then change appropriately.

Is that not healthy? Half those meals are pretty healthy no?

Blood pressure is perfect. I dont have any bad cholesterol but I dont have any good cholesterol either. Just starting to notice I gain some weight in the winter when I dont golf but still within 2 lbs of what I weighed when I was 22.

Just because someone else cooks it doesn't necessarily mean its bad. Get brown rice and chicken and steak thats it at Chipotle. And I eat blueberries or blackberries a couple times a week!

It absolutely depends on where you work. Where my daughters worked, it wouldn't happen because all the employees actually cared about their work and the customers. It was a locally-owned place and they were really close to the owner. It was about pride and excellence for that crew.

But go across the street to Perkins and the meth heads cooking at that place might spit in your food just because, before you ever did anything to piss them off.

Around here it's fairly easy to spot the offenders. They're the ones with numerous health code violations.

That would be in a package of like three cashews.

I don’t get my hair cut until my wife starts telling me that I look like an old lady from behind. The girl that cuts my hair charges $22 and I pay her $30. But she went to school with my sons and I used to work with her brother.

We pretty much stopped eating out when I got cancer, mainly because I don’t have much of an appetite. If we do it’s usually a 20% tip for good service. If we take the kids and grandkids, we tip 25% because we act like a bunch of vikings.

This is a hidden issue for restaurants and other low paying jobs in high end areas. How to find low cost workers when average rent is $2,500-$3,000 a month and gas is $3.50-$4.00 a gallon.

I never realized this problem until like 10 years ago when I lived outside DC in Ashburn, Loudoun County and a restaurant owner told me about this issue.

Loudoun County is the #1 highest per capita income in the US for the last 10-15 years

We should just have a repository thread of all the reeruned made up stuff and call it something like BWillie's reeruned Second Life, like eating out 15 times a week and acting clueless as to why food costs so much.
