It's inexplicable.

And I hadn't paid much attention but I figured Mariota was at least being Alex Smith level competent. NOPE. That was a Twilight Zone Tyler Palko performance. Instead of having nothing physically, Mariota had nothing mentally. That was as bad of a QB decision making performance as I've seen. Maybe ever.

FFS, it would be better if he took the Hutard approach and shut his eyes and threw it wherever Pitts was supposed to be.
Man, Alex Smith had limitations (certainly physical ones by the time he got to us after the botched shoulder surgery in SF), but the CP dogging of the guy has never been fair.

He wasn't GOOD ENOUGH to take a team all the way, but he was still an above average QB. He was a Cousins, but we obviously needed a Mahomes.

But Mariota is in no way, by any stretch of realistic comparison anywhere near an Alex Smith.

I honestly don't remember what he did here that would make me hold anything against him other than our offense being terrible I guess. But I blame Cassel and Brady Quinn and Pioli for that mess of an offense more than I do him.

I don't hold anything against him at all.

But I bet Kadarius Toney does and all I'm saying is that it would be, at least in part, earned.

That's the point. I was all the way wrong figuring he was playing as a competent starter. They're 4-5 FFS.

Yesterday Mariota played like a much dumber better running version of the worst iteration of Matt Cassel.

Any Brother****ing Cheatriot ****bag gets no benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

The only good offense he's coached is in Buffalo with Josh Allen. If he can sustain success in NYG, he'll be well on his way. But lest not forget that the Pioli built Chiefs won 10 games before the new wore off and the dumb****ery shown through.

I don't have a dog in this fight, other than hating everything Brother****ing Cheatriot ****bag, but he'll be the exception to the rule. However currently the only one that appears to be doikng that is Vrable and he only played for Brother****ing Cheatriot ****bag, and may not have been initiated into the cult.

If Pitts was their BPA then I like the pick. You can't always get the QB first, sometimes you've gotta stack the roster and then get a little lucky ala Seattle circa 2012 and KC in 2017.

Pitts is a weapon, too, so ideally, by the time they get a solid QBotf in the building, he'll be running on all cylinders.

Toney "played" 2 games for him. What exactly could he have against him? That makes no sense.

and a whole offseason of practices, and every day, week in and week out in the building for a half a season.

We don't know, but something went awry there, that much is obvious.

But don't act like two games is the sum of their interaction.

If it's Toney's problem, we'll find out soon enough.

Two games? Agreed, that makes no sense.

Bumping heads since the end of January when Daboll took over? That makes a ton more sense.

Wish someone could find the conversations we had when news first broke about the Daboll/Toney disconnect. It might be lost somewhere in the Free Agency thread, i have no idea. I think it was around OTA's when it was first reported there was a problem.

Iirc, there may be some tidbits in there that we can glean from.

The issue is that tony doesn’t have a ton of tape from college or nfl so it’s possible he isn’t that talented. He has some weird lower body flexibility that make his moves look really cool. But teams usually hold on to really good talent despite of any issues with coaches Ect
