Legal tampering period begins tomorrow, March 14th. Throw all of your rumors and moves in here.

Obviously, for the people who hate mega threads, feel free to create a new thread for larger moves and anything Chiefs.

I think a lot of you are really worried because that's no longer the plan. I guess I'm saying-and I think Veach and Reid are saying-ok, well that's just not sustainable, and you can't depend on that to win Super Bowls. Let's try something else here.

You can keep trying to prop it up; but the bill eventually comes due. We could have tried to maybe one more year, at most two, but then you'd have to tear it all down anyway. And the rest of the division and the AFC in general were all building their teams to stop it. Like SPECIFICALLY, the road to the SB goes through Arrowhead, so Mahomes to Hill was living rent free in every GM's head. Gotta match that firepower, gotta build a defensive scheme to stop it.

So **** it. Let's do something else now that everyone else is on that track. Stop THIS instead.

It's going to be okay.
The dicey part is, this strategy is;

We finally got what we wanted to do well, and we did it very well.

Now it's time to try to do all the things we haven't done well, . . better.

It's not that it can't be accomplished, just that it's not a 'tweak.' It's a foundational paradigm shift.

We have Mahomes, but the task now is for every single aspect of the entire franchise to perform better.

The irony is, this is exactly what I've been saying needed to be done. Just never pictured we would sacrifice the one part of the franchise that executed spectacularly in order to finally set ourselves on the path.

O.Henry should write a short story.

I've now watched that like 20 times in the past three weeks or something, and it dawned on me that in that game, which I think is the most important non-superbowl playoff game we have played in (tied with Buffalo this year) you know who was a non factor? Tyreek Hill.

Hill had 3 catches for 41 yard, 1 rush for 4 yards, and a bad fumble on a punt return inside the the Texans 10.

And yet the Chiefs scored 51. Mahomes threw for 300 plus yards and 5 TDs

This doom and gloom shit because Hill chose to leave is stupid. We still have the best QB in the world paired with the best TE to ever step on the field.
Hill wasn't a non factor. He impacts the game literally the second he steps foot on grass.

I get that. Of course he's a factor, but his stat line in that game isn't impressive.

We will be just fine.

And then since that game he has 812 yards and 5 touchdowns in 8 playoff games despite attracting by far the most attention of any WR in the playoffs.

You don't have to act like a Tyreek wasn't an elite playoff performer in order to be excited about the future.

He was but not in the SB and not in the champ game. Part of that is on Mahomes and part on the offense going dead like it did in many games.

He was on pace for like 130-140 yards and multiple touchdowns before Mahomes forgot how to play football.

I’d take a team full of good players instead of Tyreek. That includes early talent for defense and another WR.

Teams easily defended us bc it was just Tyreek and Kelce. Now we should have 4 receivers with ability, keeping our HOF TE and coach and the OL being top tier overall.

Keeping Tyreek would not have been easy on the defense. We used picks in a trade for years be it Patrick or Frank or Brown Jr. had a good 4 year run. Now we need picks too reload.

I was referring to losing Hill...Chiefs lost Ward, Hitchens, DRob, Honey Badger, Pringle, Sorensen, Reed...gained Ju-Ju, Valdes-Scantling, Justin Reid, Stallworth.

I would think this, at least, nets them one...

I had forgotten about the coaching compensation...good catch.

What's the cut-off FA date...so they dont count against the comp pick formula?

This could play a role in Veach not making any additional moves until after that....

So KC could be looking at three 3rd round picks, two 4ths and two 6ths...they could afford to sacrifice the 2023 1st rounder in a move up...not that I want them to. That's a lot of ammo next year too...

The further you get away from the shock of losing Hill...the more you realize how amazing the long-term compensation is. Five picks and saving $25-27 million per allocated to one source. Paying him would have caused problems down the road...and potentially stunted the progression of the team. Too top heavy...

That's a lot of strategy for a rigged game.

I agree...but they still have to construct a competitive product. How that shakes out with flags in the final 2 minutes is a different animal.

Building a team is an interesting process...actually more interesting than the actual games to me.

Also signed RB Ronald Jones, LB Jermaine Carter, S Deon Bush, CB Luq Barcoo, T Geron Christian, LB Elijah Lee, and Austin Reiter but minimum deals so probably not going to be in formula.

We also lost CB Mike Hughes and Austin Blythe

Hitchens was cut so would not count plus has not signed yet. Tyrann Mathieu has not been signed yet.

Late Monday afternoon right after the draft is the cutoff for comp pick formula.
