I guess what I'm saying is that I think some of you are looking at this all wrong.

The 'wait for Mahomes and Hill to do something amazing' offense took us all the way ONCE in four tries.

I think a lot of you are really worried because that's no longer the plan. I guess I'm saying-and I think Veach and Reid are saying-ok, well that's just not sustainable, and you can't depend on that to win Super Bowls. Let's try something else here.

You can keep trying to prop it up; but the bill eventually comes due. We could have tried to maybe one more year, at most two, but then you'd have to tear it all down anyway. And the rest of the division and the AFC in general were all building their teams to stop it. Like SPECIFICALLY, the road to the SB goes through Arrowhead, so Mahomes to Hill was living rent free in every GM's head. Gotta match that firepower, gotta build a defensive scheme to stop it.

So **** it. Let's do something else now that everyone else is on that track. Stop THIS instead.

The offense is too easy to defend? I would argue that. I would argue that it BECAME too easy to defend LAST season. Hill averaged what, like 11 ypc? That negates him, really. If I can do that as a defense playing KC, I'm real pleased with myself.

Other than Hill's otherwordly ability to track a deep ball, Hardman can do many of the things Hill could do. All of the jet sweep stuff, WR screen stuff-Hardman can threaten a defense in the same way. We've added MVS, who is a big, fast deep threat that you have to account for. We've added Juju, a physical YAC machine who must be accounted for. And we still have Kelce. If we actually run the ball enough to be a threat there, this offense as it stands can threaten every blade of grass-and there's NO WAY Veach and Reid are done yet. I'm excited, but I'm unconcerned. It's entirely possible that this offense may be more EFFICIENT if less EXPLOSIVE. Although last season, it was often NEITHER for long stretches.

And as I said, I fully expect at least one if not two WR's in the draft. Only MVS is on the roster for '23. That tells me that Veach is targeting guys in this draft.

We have EIGHT picks in the first four rounds. EIGHT shots in the chamber to restock the talent on this team. I think this is going to be a LOT of fun.

But our WR group is pretty meh right now. There is no one anyone will worry about. If we had Hill then JuJu and MVS slot in better. Without him teams will be able to take away JuJu and MVS pretty easily.

That's why we need to hit on the draft picks.

There are one year FA mercenaries available...I just think Veach is waiting to see how the draft plays out.

Ingram, Clowney, Flowers...even Suh. Landry at WR...there are short-term options if KC wants to go that route.

Chiefs are in that space where they have to semi-rebuild. A lot of bills are coming due next year...LT, Hardman, Ju-Ju....Clark will be gone.

They can attempt to fill-in/groom a lot of the high money positions this year...and if they pan out, can be FA players in 2023.

It's more about the timing...KC is in a transition year...financially and roster wise. Mahomes' bill is coming due. Get these rookies a year of experience.

If Veach lands a handful of cheap contributors...they will be in great shape going forward. This is the year to do it...

I would rather KC stand pat...but BV is aggressive and an ex-WR...so who knows. He just lost his superstar receiver.

Chiefs have an additional 4th and 6th next season...and potentially a comp pick.

I'm hoping we trade for a DE or something because if not that means Frank Clark is going to be a starter again which is just flat out terrible. But I think we make a trade for a DE or CB because otherwise restructuring Thuney makes no sense and as good of a drafter as Veach is, finding a starting DE, CB, and WR in the same draft is an impossible task.

People say that every single year. It’s the Peter griffin mystery box thing. There’s always guy who a year out people think will be the guy, then completely shit the bed. There’s no guarantees.

By what standard? This years QB crop is not great but everywhere else is pretty stacked.

I have a 8 year old son. He is suddenly all about football. Its ****ing awesome man. But he keeps watching the highlights from the Texans Chiefs playoff game in 2020. Again, its awesome.

I've now watched that like 20 times in the past three weeks or something, and it dawned on me that in that game, which I think is the most important non-superbowl playoff game we have played in (tied with Buffalo this year) you know who was a non factor? Tyreek Hill.

Hill had 3 catches for 41 yard, 1 rush for 4 yards, and a bad fumble on a punt return inside the the Texans 10.

And yet the Chiefs scored 51. Mahomes threw for 300 plus yards and 5 TDs

This doom and gloom shit because Hill chose to leave is stupid. We still have the best QB in the world paired with the best TE to ever step on the field.

I don’t think we need to pigeon-hole ourselves into double-dipping DL early. The FA class is still very good and it’s only gonna get cheaper after the draft.
