I believe it was $9 million for the draft class before the trade. I would guess that's probably at around $13-14 million now.

The other issue is, if you take all those picks this year and a couple hit, you're looking at a couple extensions all hitting at one time. Thats a good problem, but you wanna space some things out.

I think they will trade up as well, but for an Edge. Better be for a guy that can actually get to, and take down Herbert and Burrow!

I would think getting OBJ off the tag would clear up some significant space.

The timeline and circumstances fit in hindsight. He agreed to parameters with the Chiefs and then Adams' contract hit.

I was wondering this on the way to work, what if those "good nubers" were real or at least close then Adams got significantly more.

Also i now its EXTREMELY unlikely but what if Ojabo and Willaims fell to 29 and 30.. Do you swing on the upside? Then take safer creed/bolton type guys in the second to hedge? Or not necessarily hedge the same position but just high floor guys at other areas maybe.

Yeah, I'm not saying anything about the position they might target (although I agree DE makes the most sense) just that if they don't trade up (or trade for a vet), this draft class is probably going to be about 50% more expensive than an average year.

I think The Franchise is about right at $13-$14M.

A 4-year, $85M deal would have got him into the top 3 before the Adams trade. The numbers make sense in hindsight.

The only reason we'd need to clear space at this point is if we were making a splash/blockbuster trade for a veteran on a 2nd contract (aged 23-27).

[I say this because if we made a huge trade for a guy still on a rookie deal, we wouldn't need the cap space for this year. I also say this because the last thing in the world Brett Veach would do is make a blockbuster trade for an older vet (28+) with a big cap hit + critical draft picks.]

So if you see us doing a bunch of restructures paired with extensions all at once in the weeks leading up to the draft, that could be your signal.

I could maybe see a trade after the draft....depending on what they came out of it with.

I'd send 30 to the Jags for Josh Allen and extend him but they have no reason to do that.

Unless they wanna take a rusher with the first pick this year they like better I guess.
