I’ve jumped aboard the Kyzir White train. Would be a great get and solidify the LB corp. Allows us to practically ignore the position in the draft unless we find a Trey Smith level steal.

Vikings DE Danielle Hunter's $18 million roster bonus became guaranteed on Sunday.

The Vikings had explored trading Hunter this offseason, but it appears they weren't too fond of any of the offers. Hunter's appeared in just seven games over the past two seasons, missing most of 2021 with a torn pectoral. Hunter's $28 million cap hit could still be lowered with a re-negotiation, but that would push more of the cap hit into the final year of his contract in 2023. This would seem to lock Hunter into the Vikings plans for 2022.

Many are still confused as to what happened between Smith and the Ravens. So we tried to figure out what transpired.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Smith and the Ravens had agreed on a contract per the basic terms (four years, $35 million), with incentives that would have pushed the total value to $50 million. Then, the player decided to back out.

This happened, coincidentally (or not), after Chandler Jones agreed to terms with the Raiders, and after Von Miller agreed to terms with the Bills.

Smith and his agent then proposed a different deal to the Ravens. The Ravens accepted the revised terms. They were then told that Smith would make a decision the next day.

The next day, Smith and his agent proposed a dramatically different deal. The Ravens passed, and that was that.

Many have assumed that Smith had something else in hand. He didn’t. He remains a free agent, with no obvious or apparent deals. And the money in free agency already is drying up.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Smith goes back to the Ravens at some point, seeking the deals away from which he walked. It also will be interesting to see whether the Ravens would put those deals back on the table.

I wouldn't mind the Chiefs trying to sign 26 year old, Lorenzo.

He's had his problems with injury, but I really liked him coming out of Georgia.

PFF estimates a two years, $8M deal for Mr. Carter.

I think Brett Veach can get him for cheaper.

He’s going to be 30 before the season starts and is coming off a full year lost to a back injury that required surgery. I bet the deal from Balltimore didn’t have much guaranteed money and was backloaded.

I’m not against signing him, but we need to structure any deal with an injury clause to limit team cap liability if his back injury removes him from the field.

I posted this in the Patrick Peterson thread which died a fast death.

Probably it is one of those nobody gives an F, but I like the guy, so I am posting it again over here.

CB Fabian Moreau – 27 years old but will be 28 for the next season. 6-0, 204 pounds, 5 years at UCLA, 3rd round pick of Washington Redskins in 2017.
2017 NFL Combine stats – 6’ ½”, 206 pounds, 4.35. 40 yard, 38” vertical, 11’ 4” Broad jump

Fabian has missed 4 games in 5 years in the NFL so pretty healthy.

2021 ATL – 16 starts, 61 tackles, 44 solo, 11 PD.

At the East West Shrine Bowl he was smooth and able to mirror receivers. He was also invited to the Senior Bowl, but they are back to back and he declined the invitation. He tore his pec doing the bench press for his pro day and the injury affected his draft status some.

He’s a willing tackler with his coverage, but a fault would be his run support.

Last year he played for a $990,000 base plus a $137,500 bonus, so I think he could be inexpensive.

Interesting assessment of Moreau -
Falcons should bring Fabian Moreau back in 2022 - SportsTalkATL.com

Quote:
Out of 85 qualifying cornerbacks, Moreau ranks tied for 19th in targets and receptions, 51st in reception percentage (64.7%), tied for 20th in yards per reception (10.3), and tied for 12th in stops (12).
https://www.sportstalkatl.com/falcon...-back-in-2022/
He’s not perfect, but he has stayed healthy and he is able to cover and probably not too expensive.

Side Note - Atlanta Falcons just signed CB Casey Hayward as the replacement for Moreau.

Even if we signed Moreau, we should probably draft a CB but I think he could improve what we have.

I'm not against signing him either but I would prefer a 1-year structure for a guy like him. Maybe a 1+2 or something.

I wouldn't want to actually give him a long-term contract.
