If Hill gets the large contract he’s expected to get….then I think it’s almost a given that Chris Jones is gone next year. You can’t have a top 3 contract for every damn position. And we’re about to have QB, WR, OT, OG, DT and DE. Clark and Jones will be off the books next offseason.

Thuney has rolling guarantees but the 'pre-emptive' trigger stops in 2023.

So Thuney's 2023 salary guarantees tomorrow (2022) His 2022 salary triggered on the first day of the 2021 league year.

But his 2024 salary doesn't guarantee until the first day of the 2024 league year.

So Thuney's deal has an escape hatch after next season and I'd imagine Smith's emergence means we'll be taking it. But hell man, Kelce's gonna have a $16.4 million cap hit then and he'll be 35.

A LOT is going to change over the next 2 seasons. I think it's a reality we should probably begin preparing for now.

This team is going to look drastically different after two offseasons. It’s crazy to think about but it has to happen.

Seems increasingly likely that Hill is back.

And I don't actually think they move on from Kelce by then if he still wants to play. They'll do the restructure thing.

But by 2024 you may be looking at the swan songs of Hill and Kelce, Mahomes, Butker, Gay, Bolton, Humphrey, Sneed and Smith as the only guys from this roster still on the squad. Reid will have a $14 million+ cap hit w/ $3 million in dead money so he'll get restructured or gone. The organization still doesn't seem sold on Thornhill long term. I guess Gray will probably still around - he's cheap.

You'd like to think they'll have upgraded on Danna and I don't imagine Kaindoh sticks. Niang - lord, your guess is as good as mine.

That's 2 seasons of football away. I mean that's ****ing jarring.

But honestly I just don't have a problem with it. I've said it before, Mahomes will have 3-4 different 'teams' around him over his time here and this core he's had since he got here is nearing its end.

The worst thing the franchise could do is what they did with Lenny and the early 70s Chiefs where they just held on too long and let that team fall apart. It set them up for a rough decade.

Now things are a bit easier now with the cap jetissoning talent every year, but it's still a hell of a lot easier to STAY out of that kind of morass than it is to dig out of it.

He'd have to be stupid not to go there for any offer.

But then again he went back to Pittsburgh last year so maybe he isn't all the way there....

Who cares?

If you can't find a 6'1'', 210 lb WR who runs a 4.6 and has decent hands, you ****ing suck at finding players.

There's a reason the market keeps falling apart for this guy. His skill set just isn't difficult to find.

If he's cheap - hurray. He can play X here and be adequate. That's easier than using a draft pick to develop one and no more expensive than retaining Pringle would've been.

If the Packers want to drive his market up, fine - have fun with that effete prick throwing you footballs, John.

Seriously guys, if the dude just kept the name he had coming out of high school, we'd have forgotten about him by now. Who would've given a damn about signing a dude named John Smith with his tools? Hell, he'd have probably gone undrafted and vanished from the landscape altogether.

I may have missed a signing, but I think these guys are all still free agents -

Jamison Crowder – 2021 NYJ – Age 28, 12 games, 51 catches, 447 yards, 2 TDs, 71.8% catch rate
Odell Beckham – 2021 CLV/LAR – Age 29, 14 games, 44 catches, 537 yards, 5 TDs, 56.3% catch rate
JuJu Smith-Schuster – 2021 PIT – Age 25, 5 games, 15 catches, 129 yards, 0 TDs, 53.6% catch rate
Jarvis Landry – 2021 CLV – Age 29, 12 games, 52 catches, 570 yards, 2 TDs, 59.8% catch rate
Cordarrelle Patterson – 2021 ATL – Age 31, 16 games, 52 catches, 548 yards, 5 TDs, 75.4% catch rate
Julio Jones– 2021 TEN – Age 33, 10 games, 31 catches, 434 yards, 1 TDs, 64.6% catch rate
Marquez Valdes-Scantling – 2021 GBP, Age 27, 11 games, 26 catches, 430 yards, 3 TDs, 47.3% catch rate
Sammy Watkins – 2021 BAL – Age 28, 13 games, 27 catches, 394 yards, 1 TDs, 55.1% catch rate
A.J. Green – 2021 ARZ – Age 34, 16 games, 54 catches, 848 yards, 3 TDs, 58.7% catch rate
Cole Beasley – 2021 BUF – Age 33, 16 games, 82 catches, 693 yards, 1 TD, 73.2% catch rate

I know he is older, but if he wasn't too expensive, I'd like to see what Cordarrelle Patterson could do for the Chiefs. He also had over 600 yards of rushing. Without Byron Pringle we could use a kickoff returner.

Patterson has been an ass WR his entire career. The only thing that kept him in the league were his STs skills and that time he spent as a RB with the Patriots.

That is just a massive pile of 'meh'. MVS is the only person I find remotely intriguing in that bunch. But he's been a cocktease his whole career and I'd be surprised if he doesn't do the same thing here.

I think some of ya'll are just looking for answers that aren't there. The talent gap has closed it sucks but what did you expect? Congrats to the Chargers & Raiders you haven't been this close to winning the division since what? 2010? Reid and the staff is going to have to do something they haven't had to do since when? 2016 most likely 2014 and that's coach up lesser talent (won 12 games in 16' and was a **** hair away in 14' from the playoffs both with Alex Smith) Embrace the process and in a year or 2 we will be able to pay some of these guys in the open market. The worst thing we can do right now is give up valuable capital for guys who have very little value moving forward.

I'm hoping for Julio or obj. The pressure would be off them because of Tyreek and Kelce. That's what they need at this stage in their career.

We also need to grab a WR in the top 100.

Julio is washed up, OBJ coming off his 2nd ACL tear in the same knee. No thanks.

I get it but you're drafting a replacement as well. We still have ballers all over the field.

Take a shot on a healthy season and let them ring chase.
