This isnt a playoff team...

Defense just sucks too ****in' much.

No pass rush, safeties can't cover over the top, LB's are slow.

The defense takes all of the wind out of this team's sails.

Sometimes, you need a wake-up call. I'd rather lose to BUF or BAL now, in the regular season, and then start peaking in Nov/Dec to go on a run...
The irony is that Sorensen was a big part of that turnaround. And now removing him is hopefully a big part of this turnaround. I remember in green bay we got gashed by simple screen passes so we started shadowing Sorenson on the rb.

Now we have to get him the hell out of there. Hell, find creative ways to get odaniel in there. Why the hell is he even here if we don't intent to play him.

Disagree completely. When Mahomes was out, we were holding our breath for him to return and salvage the season. And outside decent and improving O-line, Mahomes, and our primary receivers, . . . we are in the lower echelons of the league across the roster and coaching staff.

Put it this way, I don't know the future, . . . but I know history, . . . and Marino in Miami and Stafford in Detroit played decades of football just like this. It's something to be vigilant against. Or Manning in Indy if you prefer, who also had a 1-1 SB career there, that depended on the vitality of the defense. Wasting tons of record-breaking seasons with all-around mediocre teams.
top notch...hate to see talent wasted.

Exactly.

I don't know if it's just chicken littles being pussies or people really think there's a fine line between every team or what.... but, most of the league is absolute trash and that's not the Chiefs.

Playing close games against playoff/championship game/SB contenders and losing some of them doesn't make your team trash and doesn't make your team a .500 team.

It's a real thing that everyone is building around beating the Chiefs and teams are treating these games like it's their SB... and yeah, the league has adjusted, and the Chiefs will have to adjust back and get better.

2015 Chiefs were 1-5 then railed off 10 in a row and was 11-5 for the season

That was with Alex Smith lead team.

We have Patrick ****ing Mahomes the Second. Patrick makes things happen we are a resilient team that has proven to make come backs and we can make a come back for nother title run and win it all.

This defense with mostly the same players was borderline top 10 last year. We have enough talent to not be this bad.

And our coaching staff has an elite offensive staff. Still a little uneasy with spags but he has an excellent staff under him. We may be a few pieces away from turning this around. But let's not get carried away with us having nothing to work with.

Folks - he might be right.

This defense is worse than anything G-Rob or Sutton ever sent out there and for some bizarre reason they feel compelled to ‘establish the run’ by wasting first down over and over again.

This feels like a lack of talent combined by rank arrogance.

Without Veach hitting on draft picks (which he wont) how long is that window shut for the Chiefs as Mahomes contract grows? 5 years?

I think it's a bit premature to say the Chiefs aren't a playoff team but its obvious the defense is a big, big problem that won't make it easy to get there and certainly not likely they go far.

I think we'll make the playoffs but I won't be nearly as confident as I was the past three seasons

We have until the 1st road playoff game to fix the defense and stop making really really really STUPID turnovers.

They look like team that's in the rebuilding process.
They're always having to comeback from behind.
Spags has to go.
