Let’s talk about rd 2

Lot of good receivers left as well as corners.

Feeling good about it. What’s our big board look like?

They're big safeties. Which is fine, but if that's what we want, take a safety.

I'd rather have a LB like Gay that can play all 3 downs.

Because you're likely going to have to trade away picks to get him. Thats really not good value in this draft.

Cox is a 3-down LB.

And also, if Niang pans out and Long returns to form, then this is already an elite OL. Blythe just has to be a good run blocker and not a complete liability in pass pro.

But if the Chiefs have two stud LB's, they're not gonna park one on the sideline. They're going to get his ass on the field and adjust their scheme accordingly.
This regime has been here long enough though to show they just don't seem to value the LB spot like we fans do.

Kind of the same way they've done with CB's.

Especially in Spags system, LB just doesn't seem to be of priority. DE does though. But I don't think there's much value where we'll be.

Who knows.

If the Chiefs were looking to replace Hitchens I could see it. They have bigger needs in my opinion.

I’ve really warmed up to Jabril Cox. He made a huge jump from NDSU to LSU and was a one of the best defenders on the Tigers. I don’t think a guy like that will have trouble translating to the NFL.

He’s like a bigger, faster version of Deion Jones. Plus he’d surely get Neiman’s ****ing ass off the field

I don’t like the pick either, but admittedly I haven’t watched him very close.

Eh, I'm not sure how he'll hold up against the run, but with some weight and time maybe.

He just seems a bit redundant with Gay in taht they're very similar players. I'd be ok with it, more so with the 2nd 2nd round pick, but it woudln't be my preference.

VARSITY
I watched the draft last night. Glad the Faiders over-reached for their guy. Glad the Bolts took a tackle instead of a skill position guy. Glad the Donks took a corner. They've had good corners before and we still beat them passing. I think our biggest need at this point is linebacker. They need an inside guy. If they can sign Ingram from the Bolts, he would be kind of like when we got Suggs two years ago. Hopefully Gay will come back healthy, and we can find somebody in this years draft to add to the mix. Also need corner help. We can probably get by with what we have on offense right now. But if a good tight end falls in their lap, sure. I also think (although I know I'm in the minority here) there's an outside chance they could bring Schwartz or Fisher back mid season if they are healthy enough to play. Fisher may never be a left tackle again, but may be a decent right tackle or guard once he heals. Schwartz.....hmmm....back problems are not good for big guys. He was super reliable before the injury. We'll just have to see what happens there. Chances are the Chiefs will just try to develop younger guys, but if we get injuries on the line again, who knows? Very excited to actually have picks tonight, and the draft will move faster. That's a good thing too. Here's to Bruce Valanche doing that voodoo that he do soooo wellllllll !!!

They said last year Gay was going to play Wilson's position. Cox would be playing on the opposite side in 3-LB sets.

They bring the SAM off the field so much though. I'm hoping Gay can stay during passing downs.

That's just the thing.

With Gay on that side and Cox on the other, you could slide back into nickel and keep Gay on the field. Cox would roll over into the Sorenson role.

They complement each other well enough, and have enough athleticism, that you could keep both of them on the field for all 3 downs theoretically.
