2019 and 2020 were arguably great, even though they didn't have a 1st round pick in 2019 either. Aside from the individual guys that are starters and contributed, EVERY SINGLE ONE of our draft picks from 2019 and 2020 are still on the team and getting snaps. That's almost unheard of.
He has done a great job at acquiring depth.

The only thing that he hasn't done that Dorsey did is draft any bonafide superstars.

You don't usually get bona fide superstars in the draft right away unless they're blue chip prospects drafted in the top of the first. Kind of hard to get those guys when you don't have a first round pick at all, followed up by picking 32nd overall.

When you're picking where the Chiefs have been, you often have to develop those guys. Thornhill was on his way to being a pro bowl safety before the injury but other than him, it has only been 2 years. This time next year, you could be adding CEH, Gay, Sneed, and others to the list.

I mean Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill weren't superstars in their first seasons. Tyreek broke out in his 2nd year and Kelce in his 3rd.

The thing is, they have moves to make.

Mathieu and Fisher can be extended and reworked and drastically lower their cap numbers.

Chris Jones can see a big chunk of next year’s salary converted into a signing bonus. That would free up a huge amount of cap space.

I think Schwartz will retire and free up a large chunk of money, too (which will be used in large part on his replacement).

No need for doom and gloom. Chiefs are fine.

If Schwartz retires, they're on the hook for all of his dead cap money in 2021 - about $3.75M. They'd save just north of $6M.

When an NFL player retires, all of the dead money on their contract counts against the current year’s salary cap. As far as the salary cap goes, player retirement is treated the same as if a player were cut or traded by the team. Any non-dead money is forfeit upon retirement and does not count against the team’s cap, but the dead money remains.

We have at least another year of our orginal core group. That’s 4 years of keeping 6-8 Pro Bowlers together including your football saviors well deserved 1/2 $ BILLION. That’s a long time in the modern era. And we can probably squeeze out another 5th year.

Kelce will be 34 too. No one stops aging. Mahomes salary starts going up too. Like I said, we have 2 more years with this group.

Once we get through Covid and back to normal I believe the salary cap will skyrocket with new contracts and new sources of revenue. By 2024 or 2025 I think Mahomes’ contract will look like a bargain.

Justin Houston and Dee Ford are both better than Frank Clark. But we got ourselves a Super Bowl. It was more about ridding ourselves of Grandpa Bob more than anything.

Justin Houston in the one year and **** no on Ford. His best year cost us a superbowl by lining up offsides.

I don’t care what draft picks we gave up. How much money Clark’s paid, how much is still due. He got teams off the field on 3rd and 4th downs. That made a huge difference in me getting to enjoy a Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years. Money and draft picks well spent.
