It sounds like Dutch's henchmen did a double cross and stole that buried treasure. I'm sure that's why Twisted's dad never found it.

That is an awesome story and I wish I'd known about it. It would have been right down my alley as a young pup.

I'd be interested in what took the lives of some of the treasure hunters. Falls is my guess along with helplessly lost or frozen in a snowstorm. Or even Grizzer Bear.

I think it was BS and for just notoriety. The reason why the finder did not show his face or pictures of the treasure were either they don't exist or he knew the guy. I am also guessing with all the rescues and deaths that mounting pressure and warnings from authorities to stop amateurs from trekking, getting lost and dying they told him to say someone found it. Or he will be liable for damages.

I truly hope someone really found it and it did contain a small fortune. The contents will wind up coming on the open market at auction houses if real. That may help reveal who had it or the true story.
