Is Charvarius Ward a #1 corner?

[PFF KC Chiefs] Charvarious Ward ranks #1 in Passer Rating allowed and Reception %. He ranks #3 in Yards Allowed and tied for 3rd in Yards/Coverage Snap
There were 10 cornerbacks to reach 1,000 total snaps in the 2019 regular season. Charvarius Ward was one.

• Passer Rating: 67.3 (1st)
• Yards Allowed: 634 (3rd)
• Reception %: 47.6% (1st)
• Yards/Coverage snap: 1.00 (T-3rd)

i think he is on his way but needs one more lock down season.

He had a rough game against the Texans, but isn't getting the appreciation he deserves vs. the Titans and Niners.

He was basically asked to handle Bourne/Sanders on an island while the Chiefs doubled up and removed Kittle and brought Sorenson down for the run. The Chiefs challenged the 49er receivers to beat them, and Ward/Breeland didn't let that happen. He gave up a few catches, but that was it.

He sure as hell deserves to remain on this team based on this comment alone. A whole bunch of dudes has a rough game against the Texans. Dudes that are much more highly regarded than Ward.

He's pretty damned good trade bait too. This front office rocks.

I'm sure a lot of good corners have had some of their worst games against DeAndre Hopkins and Wil Fuller.

Methinks, Ward will get a 2nd contract that will be a couple million more per year than the veteran CBs we have signed as free agents. May need him to accept discount to afford him. I think being in a comfortable situation matters to him.

If Eric Warfield can be a #1 corner, then Chavarius can be one too!

He’s a starter. He’s still young and can get better. I think for this system he can be a CB1. Kendall Fuller was once the best slot CB in the league then switched teams.

And no I’m not against bringing in someone better. But I think based on the draft I think the Chiefs view him as a CB1 and they trust their ability to insert guys with size and ability and coach them up.

Chiefs have put a lot worse cb’s than Ward on the field. Trying to trade him would be a dumb ass move. He’s comfortable here and I think that mean’s a lot to him .I think when the time comes he will sign at a decent price .Thats tough position to play in the nfl and he’s young.

Think back to the one handed pick he made in the end zone in the first Texans game. Dude actually has to become a better zone player but ever since he stepped foot on the field you can bank that he will be in the receiver's hip pocket 95% of the time.

If we have a totally shit secondary then he is probably exposed a lot more. In our secondary with Honey Badger, Thornhill and Breeland he is a #1. Him and Breeland both were great this season and a lot of that has to do with a good pass rush and good safeties.

This.

He's better man-to-man than Marcus Peters.

He's our #1. Good enough to win a Super Bowl.

Agree with this 100%

Ward is good.
