So lets talk some legit options for our pick.

So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

In 2019 he was ranked 71st at his position for sacks and tied for 49th for tackles

yeah, using the Sutton defense with Kpass and Speaks as stand-up OLB'ers and backing it up with Teicher's analysis.

Nice.

Everyone can agree then he sucked his first two years, right?

So then, last years stats are just not impressive. Rotational? Ok. But being a second round pick and 3 years has higher expectations of production is a fact.

So your argument is he is good and chiefs are fine there?

My statement was he is a part of a big question mark at that position going into this draft

And your argument is wrong. CB, LB, RB, IOL, and maybe even another safety are all further up the list on needs than DL. Of course you don't necessarily draft for need, so it's not the worst thing if our pick is some amazing DE who fell, but it's still a huge exaggeration to call it a big question mark.

I am somewhat biased considering I always thought Tanoh could be developed into a good player, but moving bias aside, how on earth do you justify cutting an ascending player with a cap hit of under 2 million?

Zero percent chance Kpass gets cut.

It's entirely possible we draft a DE for he rotation.

But that will have little to do with Kpass and everything to do with getting younger and cheaper in general in the spots where we can.

Kpass looked lost at OLB in Sutton's Defense. But he was out of position, and the scheme sucked.

As a 4-3 end, which is what he's suited for physically, he grew quite a lot last season and there's reason to expect him to continue to do so.

I imagine that Speaks too may surprise. He's a much better fit as a tweener DT-DE in a 4-3 than an OLB in freakin' coverage for ****'s sake.

We're in pretty good shape on the DL, especially if we work out a Jones deal. Personally, I doubt that happens, in which case, we'd certainly draft a DL and pretty early. But otherwise it's not a huge need spot.

DE is probably more of a need next year as Okafor is a likely cut and Kpass has an expiring contract.

I agree with that. Might even draft one this year with an eye on that.
