So lets talk some legit options for our pick.

So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

Are you forgetting Okafor? And talks of cutting Kpass? you're making shit up.

Could we use another rotation option at DE? Sure, but we already have over $40 million and numerous draft picks invested in the DL, and they did pretty well last year. It's a bit of a hyperbole to call it a serious concern.

KPass isn't going anywhere.

Pretty sure this is the last year on his contract, he's likely gone in 2021 anyways.

Okafor is hurt every year of his career. Coming off yet another injury he is a question mark. He is best as a backup role player, not a reliable starter.

Kpass is a backup role player, not a starting impact player.

And I have no idea if they would cut him after drafting his replacement, but it was an option discussed on the internet.

Suggs was such a big improvement on defense, I can’t imagine them not wanting to upgrade his replacement.

Where to begin...

Whether you or I believe Okafor is not dependable or not, the Chiefs are keeping him on the roster at $7.2 million this year. A cap number that large isn't being kept around for someone who isn't seeing a significant role.

Kpass is a backup, yes, but he put up 4 sacks in a limited role as a backup which isn't bad. I don't know where you see this "conversation" that there's talk of him being cut, but I guarantee it's BS. He's making $1.3 million this year and there are far bigger cap hits that could be gotten rid of to free up salary.

Saying Suggs was such a big improvement is a huge stretch. We were already trending up on defense at that point and we only added Suggs after Ogbah was out for the season. He did alright.

Again, I'm sure it would be nice to find another DE at some point. But that player is most likely a backup/rotational player. And DT is almost assuredly set, unless Jones is traded. So calling DL an area of major concern, or however you worded it, is incorrect.

And while I absolutely despise him as a player and the draft pick that was wasted on him, Breeland Speaks is going to get one last chance to prove he's not a worthless fat ass. So there's another body at the position.

Okafor is a broke dick and can only be counted on limited production his entire career with 3 different teams.

He has been in the NFL 7 years and only played a full season 1 time.
He is coming off yet another injury.

Kpass is trash. He has been here for 3 years and was a healthy scratch the last few games of the Super Bowl season.

“Unfortunately for the Chiefs there is evidence to wonder whether that day will ever come. After playing in all 16 games last season, Kpassagnon played in only 13 games his season. Even worse, he was a healthy inactive down the stretch. At a time where he could have been earning key reps and growing into his third offseason, Kpassagnon was left behind by a team that couldn’t afford for him to still figure things out.”

That’s why Adam Teicher also recently offered up Kpassagnon as the Chiefs player who could most use a change of scenery. He writes:

He appears unlikely to fulfill the potential the Chiefs believed he had when they drafted him in the second round in 2017. Last year, the Chiefs felt compelled to trade up to draft Breeland Speaks, who plays the same position. He was a healthy scratch for two of the final three games in the regular season and one in the playoffs.”

It makes sense the Chiefs would draft a replacement starter

That article is from last year. He was a healthy scratch for Sutton. Not this past season with Spags.

Here are his game logs for last season from pro football reference:

https://www.pro-football-reference.c.../gamelog/2019/

He was on the field for roughly 80% of the snaps for most of the second half of the season and the playoffs.

For the love of Christ, that's super uninformed.

Clark
Okafar
Kpass
Harris
Ward
Speaks whos probably an end/tackle tweener

Are the guys under contract, something to take into account, the Chiefs carried Tim Ward and a LB, Darius Harris who were rookies all year on IR last year so they will likely be given legit chances to make the team.

He sucks. That shouldn’t even be an argument.

He was a second round pick who didn’t ever do shit, and production from a player in their third year should be a standard recognized by anyone.

I don’t know who wrote that or what they’re looking at. It’s wrong. Kpassagnon played every game after the bye. He also saw snaps in every playoff game.

He was a productive role player in this system last year. Might not be a star but was productive. Holding two seasons in which Bob Sutton tried to use him as a Standup OLB against him is silly.

Were you high when you watched the games? He wasn't good for Sutton cause he was out of position, he was a good player last year.

Watch the Super Bowl. First drive for the 49ers of each half stalls when the backups on the D-line take the field and results in two field goals. Difference in the game. He does not suck. That's what you want. A great D-line rotation and we have that right now.
